  7. OMT Flashcards • Cards summarizing OMT techniques for use as quick reference and study tools to prepare for exams • We have prepared order forms for you to take back and distribute at your school!

  8. Medical Spelling Bee • The format is a standard spelling bee system with medical vocabulary. The difficulty of the questions increases with every round. • Faculty and students are invited to attend. • Entry price was lower if the person brought two cans of food for a local food bank. • We chose to donate all profits to the Biddeford Adult Literacy Program the last 2 years and this is our goal for 2011.

Service Week • Presentations about local volunteer opportunities • The week began with a presentation from our Patricia Kelley, our Dean of Students. • Other talks by the Biddeford Free Clinic, pediatric mentoring program, Portland Housing Authority’s Tutoring Program, the Monarch Center for Alzheimer’s Care, and the Biddeford Soup Kitchen.

  14. Bacteriology Review • MSII’s provide a review session for the MSI’s in their preparation for their first Bacteriology test. Biochemistry Review • MS II’s give a series of one-hour review presentations on topics in biochemistry. The lectures are open to first years – who will be taking the course at the time – and to second years – who need the review to prepare for Boards.

  15. Seniors/Alumni • Graduating SSP members are invited to a cocktail reception with SSP Alumni, faculty and deans during the week of graduation. First and second year SSP members are also invited to attend. Graduation Ushers • Available SSP members provide ushers for the UNECOM graduation ceremony

  16. Strong Scholarship • Each year, SSP Kappa chapter awards a $1,000 scholarship to a second year student who has demonstrated outstanding academic scholarship as well as provided noteworthy service to UNECOM, the osteopathic profession, and the surrounding community. We offer this scholarship in honor of the first dean of our college, William B Strong, DO. Members of the second year class are nominated by their classmates and submit an application, which is reviewed by a faculty committee of basic and clinical science professors.
