ON THE RADIO More commonly known as a DJ Choose the music that plays on the radio Talk to guests and make commercials Usually works in a small room called a studio 5-6 days a week for4-5 hours Must be able to keep track of time (when to play music and when to play commercials) and ad-lib (talk without notes) Adjusts sound Average Salary: less than $30,000 FAMOUS DJ’s DJ Kay Slay DJ SpinBad DJ Unk DJ Khaled Disc Jockey

  4. Education Needed to be a Successful Disc Jockey • High School Diploma • Specialization in communication • May have associate’s or bachelor’s degree • Computer applications (format the music, mixing music) • Business (selling products on the radio, promoting show or station)

  5. Employment Opportunities • Live Disc Jockeys (weddings, other parties) • Broadcaster • Entrepreneur • Musical Artist • Audio Technician • Music Teacher
