  2. IMPORTANCIA DEL ANCHO DE BANDA • se basa en la necesidad del transporte de información según la capacidad que se requiera. El ancho de banda en la redlocal (LAN), es igual a la capacidad que tengan los dispositivos que se encuentran allí conectados y varían los costos por su uso.

  3. El ancho de banda se define como la cantidad de datos que se transmiten a través de una conexión de red en un periodo de tiempo establecido.

  4. MEDICION DEL ANCHO DE BANDA Se usa sus múltiplos como el kilobit por segundo (Kbps), el megabit por segundo (Mbps) y el Gigabit por segundo (Gbps). Unidad Abreviatura Equivalencia Bit por segundo bps 1 bps = unidad fundamental Kilobit por segundo Kbps 1Kbps= 1000 bps Megabit por segundo Mbps 1Mbps= 1,000,000 bps Gigabit por segundo Gbps 1Gbps= 1,000,000,000 bps

COMO MEDIR EL ANCHO DE BANDA • diversos factores pueden afectar la velocidad de conexión que realmente se obtiene del proveedor y esta no es constante, ni exactamente igual a la que se ofrece encontrándose pequeñas variaciones, debido al tráfico de información. • A manera de ejercicio se utilizará la página Web www.speedtest.net con el fin de conocer de manera gratuita, la velocidad de conexión o ancho de banda que permite el proveedor ISP en determinado momento.
