Remote sensing is the art, science, and technology of obtaining reliable information about physical objects and the environment through the process of recording, measuring and interpreting imagery and digital representation of energy patterns derived from non-contact sensor systems (American Society for Photogrammetric and RS).   4. Collect information about the earth surfaces. • It provides a reliable and cost-effective means of studying the natural and human environment. • Can be used for protection, natural resources management and planning. Remote Sensing

Development of urban planning applications using RS. • Monitoring Urban Growth. • Mapping cities and communities. • Planning and Policy: • To study land use, urban zoning. • To detect changes in land use from agricultural land to a construction site or housing development.
