  1. SMP FORUM Group C Questions: Information Sharing & Networking 1. How can the IFACnet search engine be made more useful to SMP/SME? For example, what external information providers (e.g., Big Four, IASB, regional accountancy organizations, national standard setters etc.) should be included in the search engine so as to improve the quality of the search results? And what new features (e.g., list/menu of key search terms) should be added to make it easier to use? • Expand websites included to cover relevant academic institutions’, regulatory authorities, other relevant professional bodies, member body journals, national standard setters, and governmental agencies with the responsibility for SMEs. • Rating of relevant materials.

What level of priority, if any, should IFAC place on an online SMP/SME communication center etc., supplemented perhaps with a directory of SMPs, aimed at helping SMPs network with one another across borders? • Problem of quality assurance • Member bodies should have details of SMPs on their web sites for possible contacts through IFACnet • Financing could be a combination of member bodies contribution and sponsorship from donor agencies such as World Bank, Investment Promotion Council

For example, what topics should be discussed on the SMP/SME Discussion Board? • Involvement of member bodies and professionals in the project and offering suggestions. • How SMPs can survive and still maintain professionalism as accountants. • Cost affordability of standards by SMPs • More dedicated input from the big four
