  19. The English Bible is a translation of a translation of a translation (etc.) of the original, and fresh errors were introduced in each stage of the process.

  21. “The proportion of words virtually accepted on all hands as raised above doubt is very great, not less, on a rough computation, than seven-eighths of the whole.

  22. “The remaining eighth therefore, formed in great part by changes of order and other comparatively trivialities, constitutes the whole area of criticism.

  23. “The number of manuscripts of the New Testament, of early translations from it, and of quotations from it in the oldest writers of the Church, is so large that it is practically certain that the true reading of every doubtful passage is preserved in some one or other of these ancient authorities.

  24. “The Christian can take the whole Bible in his hand without fear or hesitation that he holds in it the true word of God, handed down without essential loss from generation to generation throughout the centuries.” Sir Fredrick Kenyon, Director of the British Museum for twenty years, Our Bible and the Ancient Manuscripts.

  25. You could tear out any page of the Bible and still not destroy any doctrine of the Bible. Chuck Misler, How We Got Our Bible You cannot base any doctrine of the Bible on only one particular verse. . . unless you are a snake handler.

  26. Textual criticism A branch of textual scholarship that is concerned with the identification and removal of transcription errors in the texts of manuscripts. Given a manuscript copy, several or many copies, but not the original document, the textual critic seeks to reconstruct the original text (the archetype or autograph) as closely as possible. =hand written

  30. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Revelation 22:18, 19

  31. Gary and Barb were married on May the 6th and have been married for 47 years. Gary and Barb Glover were married on May the 6th and have been married for 47 years. How can we determine which was the original and did one leave part out, or did one add something in? =hand written

  32. The reality is the amount of variations between the two most extremely different New Testament manuscripts would not fundamentally alter the message of the Scriptures. I make this claim

  33. (1) fully aware of the wide range of textual variants in the New Testament and (2) painfully aware of the strong attack upon those who have made similar statements in the past.

  34. The simple fact of the matter is that no textual variants in either the Old or New Testaments in any way, shape, or form materially disrupt or destroy any essential doctrine of the Christian faith. Any semi-impartial review will substantiate this. James White, The King James Only Controversy, page 87

  35. “. . .the amount of what in any sense can be called substantial variation is but a small fraction of the whole residuary variation, and can hardly form more than a thousandth part of the entire text.”

  36. Why Can We Trust the Bible? because of the vast quantity of ancient manuscripts and the intense efforts of both friends and foes to evaluate their AUTHENTICITY.
