  1. User Self Provisioning Portal Solution Missing-Byte http://www.missing-byte.com

  2. Triggers • Following the migration of KPN applications the number of requests rose to almost 2000 cases a month. • The ratio of KPN related calls among the total increased significantly (15%). • Decided looking into the options available for solving the large number of helpdesk calls generated by application requests

  3. Application Delivery Options Office / Branch Datacenter Thin Client + IPT Hardphone Remote Desktop (VDI) Virtual Apps SCCM App-V Virtual Apps . . . . Desktop/Laptop + IPT Softphone File servers Print Virtual Apps Application Backend Resources SCCM App-V

  4. Refined Approach Use Application Virtualization & Streaming combined with a self provisioning portal to empower the users and managers avoiding costly help desk costs. Deploy App-V , Citrix XenApp and integrate them with SCCM to provision the applications which are not in the corporate image. For each application define NT security groups for the roles required. Map the application NT groups with SCCM and App-V to stream the binaries toward the users’ PCs. Provide a Self Provisioning Portal where the Application – Role – NT groups mapping is maintained and where the end user can submit the requests

  5. User Self Provisioning Avoid help desk costs (~22 eur per request) by providing the employees with a self provisioning application where they can request access to applications or hardware components Integrate the application with LDAP or custom Database to gather the hierarchy (reporting manager)

  6. Generic features • Fully integrated in company’s Sharepoint portal • Deployable as a web application leveraging Sharepoint CMS capabilities. • Multiple delivery options: dedicated site, deployed in each my site, content webpart. • Can be integrated with LDAP to map users to Application roles. • Can be personalized using existing look & feel (master page, CSS, logo)

  7. Manager’s View Functionality • Customized Home Page containing a summary of request with their status details. • Filtering enabled for individual fields to ease the search. • Direct actions attached to each request • Integrated reporting. • Export capabilities.

  8. Self Provisioning (Manager view)
