Food – a fact of life BNF’s education programme Provide educators with up-to-date, curriculum compliant resources and training to support the rapidly changing needs of the 21st century learner Website – free resources, curriculum linked, editable, progression built in Focus – healthy eating, cooking and where food comes from: www.foodafactoflife.org.uk Please help to promote!

  3. Explore Food – a free nutritional analysis tool from BNF. Teachers notes and student worksheets available too. New – front and back of pack labelling!

  4. Healthy Eating Week Next year: 1-5 June 2015. Three main themes, aligned to needs for nursery, primary and secondary schools. The themes are: Food provenance Creative cooking Eat and drink well

  5. 2015 develop new active learning games, specifically linking to the applying nutrition; produce a range of new resources, including the opportunity to engage via whole school approaches, such as lunch time; set and monitor daily challenges for pupils and staff, supported by videos and social media engagement; run a series of cook-a-long events, some presented by children.   6. Activity – in groups Create a diet for a day, using food cards. Review total energy provided, as well as food groups represented. Extension: 5 A Day? Drinks? Starchy food with each meal? Breakfast?

  7. Food4life website BNF working with LMC to review the website. What do you think? Do you use it? If changes could be made, what would they be? Why?

  8. Pupils Record own recipes (and photos) Assess their own food skills Know the main ingredients they use Certificate of achievement Teacher Share recipes (ours, own & pupils) Track and monitor pupils cooking achievement and repertoire Reporting
