All Spiritual Fullness Is In Christ(Col. 2:10) • Source: “For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily” • Result: “And in Him ye are made full” • All spiritual blessings are in Christ (Eph. 1:3) • Being in Christ = Being in church (Gal. 1:22) • Church of Christ = Body of Christ (Eph. 1:22-23) • Come into Christ through baptism (Gal. 3:27) • Made Christ’s by blood (Rom. 6:3; Acts 20:28) • Made new man when in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17)

  6. We Know How We Have SPIRITUAL FULLNESS But How Can We Be Robbed Of It?

Colossians 2:4-8 4 This I say, that no one may delude you with persuasiveness of speech. 5 For though I am absent in the flesh, yet am I with you in the spirit, joying and beholding your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. 6 As therefore ye received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, 7 rooted and builded up in him, and established in your faith, even as ye were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. 8 Take heed lest there shall be any one that maketh spoil of you through his philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.

Persuasiveness of Speech Deludes • Original word (pithanologia) combination of: • Pithanos meaning persuasive or enticing • Logos meaning words, speech or oral expression • Alluring speech whether by manner or message • This kind of preaching is warned against: • Rom. 16:17-18 • Titus 1:10-11 • Characteristic of error (1 Thess. 2:3-5; 2 Pet. 2:3) • Persuasive speaker of error great help to Satan

Philosophy & Vain Deceit Rob Us • Philosophy = Pursuit of wisdom & truth • Idea that man can derive all knowledge & truth by carnal means apart from divine revelation • Greek held this as highest effort of the intellect • 1 Cor. 1:20-25 • Vain deceit = Empty falsehood or deception • 2 Cor. 11:13 • Eph. 4:14 • 2 Tim. 3:13 • Appeal of such pursuits lead away from God (2 Cor. 11:3)

  15. Traditions of Men Rob Us • Tradition refers to “a handing down” • Combination of dosis (gift) + para (from) • May be good tradition if God is one who handed down (2 Thess. 2:15) • May be bad tradition handed down from man • Binding of human will is condemned: • Mark 7:5-9 • Titus 1:14 • Some think imposing extra requirements is aid to spirituality, but it actually robs spirituality

  16. Rudiments of the World Rob Us • Rudiments (elements) = Foundational things • First things from which a series of things arise • World = System of carnality & evil as whole • Involves all thought, attitudes, actions, speech, people... that foster or further surrounding evil • Bible denotes & condemns nature of world: • 1 Jn. 2:15-17 • Rom. 12:1-2 • James 4:4 • Truth sets us apart from world (Jn. 17:14-17)

  17. Let No Man Rob You Of The Fullness Found Only In Christ
