  2. Negative tú commands • Use a negative tú command to tell your friend or someone you know well what NOT to do. Don’t talk, Don’t run… • To form a negative tú command: • 1. Put the verb in the yo form (duermo, pongo…) • 2. Drop the –o • 3. Add the opposite ending • -esfor –AR verbs • -as for ER/IR verbs

  14. Pronoun placement - negative • With NEGATIVE commands, a pronoun MUST be placed BEFORE the command! dormirsedespertarseusar ¡No teduermas! ¡No tedespiertes! ¡No lo uses! Don’t fall asleep! Don’t wake up! Don’t use it!

  19. ¡Irregulares! • Of course, there are some irregulars that you need to memorize: • dar(doy) to give → ¡No des! • estar(estoy) to be → ¡No estés! • ir(voy) to go → ¡No vayas! • ser (soy) to be→ ¡No seas! • Saber (sé) to know→ ¡No sepas! *Notice that the yo form of all of these verbs ends in –oy, not –o.

  24. Words that end in Car/Gar/Zar have a spelling change in the ending

  25. Car Verbs: sacar (to take out) practicar (to practice) tocar (play an instrument) pescar (to fish) buscar (to look for) placticar (to chat) any other words in the future that end with car. Change the ending from ces to ques No saques, no practiques, no toques

  26. Gar Verbs: Llegar (to arrive) Pagar (to pay) Apagar (to turn off) Jugar (to play) any other words in the future that end with gar. Change the ending from ges to gues No llegues, no pagues, no apagues

  27. Zar Verbs: Almorzar (to eat lunch) Empezar (to start) Cazar (to hunt) And any other words that end with Zar Change the ending from zes to ces No almuerces, no empieces
