Project’s Goal and Objectives Providing the Palestinian market with skilled personnel in the arena of biotechnology • Providing short-training courses 20-40 hours • Providing problem-based training 1-3 months • To carry out applied research projects • To build up a master program in biotechnology

  6. How much progress has been made? Short Training Courses • Total # of trainees = 70 (the target was 48) • Total # of training courses = 6 courses • Bioinformatics • Molecular Diagnostics • Plant molecular taxonomy • Biomedical literature data bases

  7. How much progress has been made? Problem-based training • 4 graduates 4 mini projects • 3 from JUST • 1 from Philadelphia University

  8. How much progress has been made? Applied research projects Currently we have 3 funded research projects • Joint project with Louis Pasteur Institute 30,000 € • TWAS, Italy 10,000 $US • Deanship of Scientific Research (PPU) 7,000 $US • Joint project with Barcelona University 140,000 € (pending)

  9. How much progress has been made? Master program in biotechnology Compete each other or Work together? • Team work with Bethlehem University • The first Joint master program will be launched September 2008 • Share resources • Empower staff • Improve quality
