  3. 1. Trust vs. Mistrust • Birth-1 year • “Can I trust the people around me?” • Mother plays important role as caregiver • They learn to trust or mistrust depending on level of care • Trust=safe and secure • Mistrust=worthless and insecure http://www.lepetitspa.ca/mondays_for_moms.htm

Intimacy vs. Isolation • 20-25 years old • “Will I be loved or will I be alone?” • Try to find relationships and start family • Experience intimacy on deep level • Most important relationship is with spouse or partner • Isolation= loneliness • Intimacy= companionship http://www.samedaymarriage.com/marriage/

  14. Question 3 Why do teenagers fall in this category? There are multiple answers but generally, at this age people are trying to figure out who they are and what they want to do with their life

  15. Question 4 In the 1st stage of Erikson’s theories, if a caregiver neglects their child's needs, how will this affect the child as they grow? The child will not be able to trust people as easily in the future, which may create problems and could throw off the development through the other stages as well

  16. Question 5 According to Erikson, what stage should people be considering marriage? The 6th stage, Intimacy vs. Isolation
