  2. Afrikaners • Afrikaners are white Afrikaan speakers who settled in South Africa in the 17th century. • Afrikaans isa mix of Dutch, German, and English spoken with a South African dialect • Known Boers, pioneers native to Europe.

  3. Afrikaner’s Role and Influence in South Africa • Rural Afrikaners are poor, uneducated farmers. • In 1948, the Freedoms of Non-whites was further restricted by Afrikaner • Brought English speaking priests from the Protestants

  4. How are they Viewed? • Afrikaners are known to have a condescending and superior attitude towards other Africans. • They’re viewed as richer because they took control of part of the economy, and they have more money than the average South African.
