  3. Differences in High school • Chinese students spent almost all their time learning by rule. • American students are generally more relaxed and comfortable before they enter university

  4. Chinese High School Students’ Schedule Totally 13 hours for studying in the classroom except the library.

  5. Plenty of books is Chinese students’ lives.

  6. Differences in College • Too many students in a classroom, and students don’t have enough chances to communicate with professors. • The American education system lets the students pay enough attention to concentrate on the class. Students and professors are equal.

  7. Education is a non-stop discussion in China. • Educators receive a lot of complaints from students for studying courses with too hard content. • Students are criticized by teachers for lazy study habits. • As the criticism becomes more serious from public opinion, the educational institution faces more pressure. • They have to decide an attitude on the trend of education: keep going with the present educational system or innovate.

  8. Values of Education in China • The ideas of education come from Confucius: in education there should be no class distinctions • Showing respect to teachers, paying attention to education

  9. Values of Education in America • Individualism • Equality of opportunity

  10. The learning style in America is totally different. Students have rights to do what they want to. They have the fair relationship with their teachers.
