3. CISV A Unique Organization Educational
Run almost entirely by volunteers
Youth organization offering intercultural international programmes for different age groups, starting at age 11
Promoting peace education and cross-cultural friendship
Based on years of research and firm educational principles
Independent and non-political

5. CISV History CISV was conceived in 1946 by founder Dr. Doris Allen, a psychologist at the University of Cincinnati (USA)
She believed that lasting peace would be possible if individuals and groups from different nations could learn to live together as friends
The Fredericton Chapter was founded in 1991
1992 the 1st delegation represented Canada at village hosted by Gulf Coast chapter USA
1993-94 1st Interchange with Norway
1992-2008 over 400 youth & adult participants in international programs and many more in local activities
Hosted 3 villages, 2 summer camps and numerous Interchanges,1 Seminar Camp & in 2011 our first IPP
6. Learning by Doing Experiential education approach the opportunity to learn from direct experience
Programmes are interactive, action - oriented, sensitive to cultural variation, multi - lingual and fun!
Participant and facilitator share responsibility for learning

13. International Summer Camps 2 invitations for 2011
1) hosted by Beirut, Lebanon July 8 -30
Age 15 (be 15 for one day between Jun1-Aug31)

Delegations from 9 countries
4 delegates + an adult leader (21+)
Programme:
Delegates assume responsibility for planning and conducting activities
Each camp focuses on a specific educational theme
Promote understanding of people from other cultures
Build self confidence and stimulate critical thinking
Duration: 3 weeks
International Fee: $616.25
14. IYM - International Youth Meeting/Camp Age 16-18
Hosted by: Fredericton does not presently have an invitation to a CISV IYM
Dates: (8-15 day program)
- 3 youth from Canada > different chapters :
- 25 participants in total from several countries
Staff facilitators but youth participants plan and conduct the activities
- Youth involved in cooking and camp life decisions

Theme: Conflict And Resolution
Partner Org: National Liberation Museum
The IPP will have the theme of Youth in Wartime: Learning Peace from Historical Times of War and Liberation.
Age range: 19 99 !
Participants: 3 from Canada, 15-24 including staff
Programme:
a way to learn while actively contributing to the community
run in partnership with local organizations
hands-on work around a specific theme or project
delegates research the subject in their own countries
they lead and participate in educational activities on the topic

Opportunity at the local level to learn about CISV goals and philosophies and make friendships with other local participants
Activities may be in the form of discussions, movies, simulation games, excursions or guest speakers
Balance of educational activities, community involvement, social activities and family activities
Expectation for International Delegates/ families to participate often provide leadership !
