  1. GOD’S HEALTH SECRETS May God bless you with abundant health as you seek to make a wise use of the simple remedies He has provided.

  2. GOD’S HEALTH SECRETS  Revelation 22:2 (KJV)  In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.

  3. GOD’S HEALTH SECRETS  3Jo:1:2: Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.  The scriptures declare that “God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.” 1 Cor. 1:27 (NKJV) Ga:6:7: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.

  4. GOD’S HEALTH SECRETS  Hosea 4:6 (KJV)  My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

  5.  There is still some dispute over the cause of acute appendicitis, because it isn’t clear whether some signs typical of the disease are causes of it or caused by it. What is fairly clear, though, is that fruit seeds are hardly ever found in a removed, diseased appendix. Seeds are the culprit less than one percent of the time, according to one reckoning. So while fruit seeds can cause appendicitis, most cases arise from some other cause and — given how many seeds must be swallowed every day — it is likely that most seeds travel through our intestines without stopping at the appendix to cause trouble.  Seeds are a common cause of some intestinal problems but appendicitis is not one of those. So if you do feel a grape seed — or any seed — slip down your throat (and your appendix is still inside your abdomen rather than a jar), just relax and don’t even give fear a chance to take root.  Appendicitis  The common belief that swallowing seeds can cause appendicitis is factual, but incidents are vanishingly rare. A study discussed by an article in the Medical Journal of Australia found that among 1,409 diagnoses of acute appendicitis between 1972 and 1997, only one involved a fruit seed in the appendix.

  6. PEPPERMINT  Peppermint oil can improve pain management in irritable bowel syndrome,or IBS (16, 17, 18).  It appears to work by relaxing the smooth muscles in the colon, which relieves pain experienced during bowel movements.  It also helps to reduce abdominal bloating, which is a common digestive symptom (19, 20).  It also has potent anti-nausea effects when used in aromatherapy. The inhaled aroma from these "essential" oils is widely believed to stimulate brain function.

  7. PEPPERMINT TEA  Select some choice peppermint leaves from your plant. Lay them in one large heap in a tray in direct sunlight.  Rip through the leaves several times.

  8. PEPPERMINT TEA  Spread the ripped leaves on a tray and leave for 24 hours.  Check the leaves. They should be dry and crunchy. If the leaves are not ready, let them sit for another 24 hours.

  9. PEPPERMINT TEA  Boil water.  Pour the boiling water over about two tablespoons of dried leaves  Cover and let steep for ten to twenty minutes, adding about five fresh bruised leaves of peppermint and/or spearmint

  10. PEPPERMINT TEA  Pour leafy-tea into strainer over a mug.The tea should be in the cup/mug/teapot and free of leaves.  Add appropriate sweetener and enjoy!

  11. CAYENNE  Cayenne pepper is a type of chili pepper used to prepare spicy dishes. The active ingredient in it is called capsaicin, which has been shown to reduce appetite and increase fat burning in many studies. This will help people who desire to lose weight but is not effective if you eat pepper regularly  Some animal studies have also found capsaicin to combat certain forms of cancer, including lung, liver and prostate cancer.  Most useful of systemic stimulants as it regulates blood flow, equalizing and strengthening the heart, arteries, capillaries, and nerves.  Good for treating debility and warding off colds.

  12. LIME Scurvy:Lime is very well-known as a cure for scurvy, the disease which is caused from a deficiency of vitamin-C. It is characterized by frequent infections that show as normal cold symptoms, cracked lips and lip corners, ulcers on the tongue and in the mouth. SKIN Care: Lime juice and its natural oils are very beneficial for skin when consumed orally or applied externally. It rejuvenates the skin, keeps it shining, protects it from infections and reduces body odor due to the presence of a large amount of vitamin-C and Flavonoids. Digestion: Lime has an irresistible scent which causes your mouth to water and this actually aids primary digestion (the digestive saliva floods your mouth even before you taste it). The natural acidity in lime does the rest.   . Constipation: Primarily, the ample amount of acids present in lime helps clear the excretory system by washing and cleaning off the tracts, just as some acids are used to clean floors and toilets. The roughage in lime is also helpful in easing constipation, but the most beneficial element is the high acidity.  Diabetes Mainly, the high levels of soluble fiber found in limes make it an ideal dietary aid to help regulate the body’s absorption of sugar into the bloodstream, reducing the occurrence of blood sugar spikes that are a serious risk to diabetic patients.  

  13. LIME Arthritis: One of the many causes of arthritis is an excess of uric acid that builds up in the body. The citric acid found in citrus fruits like limes is a solvent in which uric acid can dissolve, increasing the amounts that are eliminated in the urine. Eye Care:Vitamin-C again! Its anti oxidant properties protect eyes from aging and macular degeneration. On top of that, flavonoids help protect them from infections. Fever: If someone is suffering from a fever, limes and lime juice can be of great importance. Gout:There are two main causes of gout. The first source is the accumulation of free radicals in the body, and the second is accumulation of toxins in the body, primarily uric acid. Lime is a wonderful source of antioxidants & detoxifiers (vitamin-C & Flavonoids) which reduce the number of free radicals as well as detoxifying the body. Heart Disease: That same soluble fiber which can help diabetics maintain their blood sugar levels can also lower blood pressure and eliminate the presence of LDL cholesterol (“bad” cholesterol). Peptic Ulcer:In addition to vitamin- C, lime contains special compounds called Flavonoids (Limonoids such as Limonin Glucoside) which have antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, antibiotic and detoxifying properties that stimulate the healing process of peptic and oral ulcers. Respiratory Disorders:The flavonoid-rich oil that is extracted from limes is extensively used in anti- congestive medicines such as balms, vaporizers, and inhalers due to the presence of Kaempferol. Just scratching the peel of a lime and inhaling it gives immediate relief for congestion and nausea.   

  14. TUMERIC Turmeric is the spice that gives curry its yellow color.  It contains several compounds with medicinal properties, the most important of which is curcumin (25). Curcumin is a remarkably powerful antioxidant, helping to fight oxidative damage and boosting the body’s own antioxidant enzymes.  Curcumin is also strongly anti-inflammatory, to the point where it matches the effectiveness of some anti- inflammatory drugs (31). It is now believed that chronic, low-level inflammation plays a major role in heart disease, cancer, metabolic syndrome, Alzheimer’s and various degenerative.

  15. TUMERIC  Studies suggest that it can improve brain function, fight Alzheimer’s, reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer, and relieve arthritis,  Studies have shown that it can reduce angiogenesis (growth of new blood vessels in tumors), metastasis (spread of cancer), as well as contributing to the death of cancerous cells (35). It can affect cancer growth, development and spread at the molecular level (34).  Multiple studies have shown that curcumin can reduce the growth of cancerous cells in the laboratory and inhibit the growth of tumours in test animals (36, 37).  Mix one teaspoon of turmeric powder in a glass of hot milk and sweeten it with honey. You can also include this spice in your cooking. Taking it internally will benefit your overall health. Note: Do not take turmeric if you have gallbladder problems as it can make them worse. Also, if you have blood clotting issues or taking diabetes medications then consult your doctor before taking this herb.

  16. GINGER  Ginger is a flowering plant that originated from China. It belongs to the Zingiberaceae family, and is closely related to turmeric, cardomon and galangal. It is often called ginger root, or simply ginger.  Studies have consistently shown that 1 gram or more of ginger can successfully treat nausea. This includes nausea caused by morning sickness, chemotherapy and sea sickness  Ginger extract has been studied as an alternative treatment for several forms of cancer. The anti- cancer properties are attributed to 6-gingerol, a substance that is found in large amounts in raw ginger

  17. GINGER  It is very effective against the oral bacteria linked to inflammatory diseases in the gums, such as gingivitis and periodontitis (31). Fresh ginger may also be effective against the RSV virus, a common cause of respiratory infections (32).  Other research found that a mixture of ginger, cinnamon, mastic, and sesame oil decreased pain and stiffness experienced by those with osteoarthritis. It had a similar effectiveness as treatment with aspirin or ibuprofen (61).

  18. GINGER  Ginger has been shown to be effective against exercise- induced muscle pain.  Ginger may have powerful anti-diabetic properties. In a recent 2015 study of 41 participants with type 2 diabetes, 2 grams of ginger powder per day lowered fasting blood sugar by 12% (11).  Chronic indigestion (dyspepsia) is characterized by recurrent pain and discomfort in the upper part of the stomach.. Interestingly, ginger has been shown to speed up emptying of the stomach in people with this condition.  Menstrual pain (dysmenorrhea) refers to pain felt during a woman’s menstrual cycle. One of the traditional uses of ginger is for pain relief, including menstrual pain.

  19. GINGER TEA  Put the ginger in a small bowl and pour 1 cup of boiling water over it.  Allow it to steep for five minutes.  Strain it into a mug  Add in lemon juice and honey.

  20. GARLIC  We now know that most of these health effects are due to a compound called allicin, which is also responsible for garlic’s distinct smell. It is closely related to onions, shallots and leeks. We now know that most of the health effects are caused by one of the sulfur compounds formed when a garlic clove is chopped, crushed or chewed  Garlic supplementation is well known for combatting sickness, including the common cold (70, 71). If you often get colds, then adding more garlic to your diet could be incredibly helpful.  There is also convincing evidence for beneficial effects on heart health. For those with high cholesterol, garlic supplementation appears to reduce total and/or LDL cholesterol by about 10-15% (72, 73, 74).  Garlic: effective against Hookworm, Pinworm, Ringworm, and Amoebae (living organisms). Kills yeast and fungal infections and helps lung disorders.

  21. GARLIC  At high doses, the sulfur compounds in garlic have been shown to protect against organ damage from heavy metal toxicity. A four week study in employees of a car battery plant (excessive exposure to lead) found that garlic reduced lead levels in the blood by 19%. It also reduced many clinical signs of toxicity, including headaches and blood pressure (22).  One study in menopausal women found that a daily dose of dry garlic extract (equal to 2 grams of raw garlic) significantly decreased a marker of estrogen deficiency (27). This suggests that this garlic may have beneficial effects on bone health in women. Foods like garlic and onions have also been shown to have beneficial effects on osteoarthritis (28).  Human studies have also found garlic supplementation to cause significant reductions in blood pressure in people with high blood pressure it was just as effective as a blood pressure lowering drug (78

  22. ALOE VERA  Aloe vera is a thick, short-stemmed plant that stores water in its leaves. This is what the Aloe vera plant looks like: Each leaf is full of a slimy tissue that stores water, which makes the leaves thick. This slimy, water-filled tissue is the “gel” we associate with Aloe vera products. The gel contains most of the bioactive compounds in the plant, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids and antioxidants.  It has long been known as a treatment for sores, particularly burns, including sunburns. In fact, the FDA first approved Aloe vera ointment as an over-the-counter medication for skin burns back in 1959.).  Tooth decay and diseases of the gum are very common health problems. One of the best ways to prevent this from happening is to reduce the buildup of plaque (bacterial biofilms) on the teeth. Aloe vera does this by killing the plaque-producing bacterium Streptococcus mutans in the mouth, as well as the yeast Candida albicans (7).

  23. ALOE VERA  Aloe vera gel not only accelerated the healing of mouth ulcers, it also reduced the pain associated with them (9).  Aloe vera has often be used to treat constipation. This time it is not the gel, but the latex, that provides the benefits. The latex is a sticky yellow residue found just under the skin of the leaf.  There is some preliminary evidence that topical Aloe vera gel can slow aging of the skin. In one study of 30 women over the age of 45, topical application of the gel was shown to increase collagen production and improve skin elasticity over a 90-day period (16). Another study found that Aloe vera reduced erythema (redness of the skin), but was also found to dehydrate skin cells (17).  Aloe vera has sometimes been used as a traditional diabetes remedy (19, 20). It is said to enhance insulin sensitivity and help improve blood sugar management.

  24. PAWPAW  Papain and chymopapain also lower inflammation and improve the healing of burns by breaking down the inactive proteins in the skin, which helps to remove dead tissue and speed up healing.  They are also used to treat skin conditions, including psoriasis, warts, ringworm, and cold sores.  Some use papaya as an ointment to relieve muscle pain.

  25. PAWPAW  Anti-Malaria  Equal quantities of the fresh leaves, of guava, lemon grass and pawpaw should slowly be boiled together in water for about two minutes. Or pour boiling water over leaves and leave for five minutes  Drink tea as needed at least three times a day

  26. COCONUT WATER  Coconut water is the liquid part of the endosperm (kernel) of the coconut fruit. When coconuts are immature, the endosperm is semisolid and jelly-like. As the coconut matures, the endosperm becomes more solid and fibrous, developing into the firmer coconut meat with which you are familiar. Rich in natural vitamins (especially the B vitamins), minerals, and trace elements (including zinc, selenium, iodine, sulfur, and manganese). Vitamins are necessary for the enzymatic reactions your cells need in order to function.  Rich in cytokinins, or plant hormones, which have anti-aging, anti-cancer, and anti-thrombolytic effects in humans.  Coconut water also has an alkalizing effect on your body,  Cardioprotective (rich in potassium and magnesium); helps regulate blood pressure, improve circulation, reduces plaque formation  Anti-inflammatory; reduces swelling in hands and feet

  27. COCONUT WATER  Is low in sugar, but pleasantly sweet; Helps balance blood glucose and insulin levels  It’s great for post-exercise rehydration, but also has anti- inflammatory properties, protects your heart and urinary tract, is a digestive tonic, improves your skin and eyes, supports good immune function, and can even help balance your blood glucose and insulin levels  Coconut water is the richest dietary source of cytokinins, plant hormones that have anti-cancer, anti-aging, and anti-thrombolytic benefits in humans  Because coconut water is isotonic and sterile (upon coming out of the coconut), it is very similar to blood plasma and has been used intravenously in emergency situations for more than 60 years  Aids in kidney function (preventing and dissolving kidney stones, UTI remedy  Enhances eye health (cataracts, glaucoma)  Digestive tonic (rich in enzymes); feeds friendly gut flora

  28. CAROB  Carob tannins contain Gallic acid that works as an analgesic, anti-allergic, antibacterial, antioxidant, antiviral and antiseptic.  Carob improves digestion and lowers cholesterol level in the blood.  It is used for treating diarrhea in children and adults alike.  Since it does not contain caffeine, carob benefits people with high blood pressure.  Regular use of carob helps in preventing lung cancer.  The vitamin E content in carob helps in treating cough, flu, anemia and osteoclasis.  The Gallic acid in carob helps in preventing and treating polio in children.  Carob fights against osteoporosis, due to its richness in phosphorus and calcium.  Carob pod husks are chewed by singers to clear the voice and throat.

  29. CHARCOAL  Charcoal is a substance formed by burning either wood or coconut shells in the absence of oxygen. What remains after the burning process is pure black carbon.  When a small particle of charcoal is greatly magnified, it resembles a sponge—containing many small holes and tunnel-like passages. Charcoal acts as an adsorbent by attracting and binding toxins, poisons, gases, and even germs. Once entrapped in the charcoal, these injurious substances become harmless to the body.  Charcoal is often used with great success for the following conditions: Poisoning , Intestinal gas, Nausea and vomiting, Diarrhea  When applied to body surfaces, charcoal adsorbs (draws out) poisons and other harmful substances that have been excreted through the pores of the skin.  Here are some of its external uses:  Infection or inflammation of the skin and joints  Eye and ear infections  Lesions from poisonous plants  Bee stings and other insect bites  Venomous spider and snake bites

  30. CLOVES (CEMENGE)  Cloves are small, nail-shaped dried flower buds that come from the evergreen clove tree. They have a sweet, somewhat penetrating flavor and are often used in cooking as well as baking. Apart from its culinary uses, cloves can also play a key role in keeping your body healthy and free from many diseases.  One of the most powerful germicidal agents in the herb kingdom. Effective stimulant and aromatic for lungs and digestive system. Helps increase blood circulation and decrease bronchial catarrh, colitis, diarrhea, gas, and nausea. Contains Vitamins A and C, B-complex, potassium, phosphorus, calcium, magnesium, and sodium.  Whether you have a headache due to tension, a migraine or cold, clove oil can help get rid of it quickly. Clove oil has pain- relieving as well anti-inflammatory properties. Plus, the cooling and soothing effect of the oil will help relieve pain.

  31. CLOVES (CEMENGE)  Cloves can also be used to treat acne and related skin problems like blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, scarring and scaly skin. They are also very effective in preventing blemishes or marks that usually appear after acne has subsided.  Plus, the antimicrobial properties in cloves help kill bacteria and thus reduce the possibility of acne spreading to unaffected areas  To treat acne, mix clove oil with jojoba or coconut oil in a ratio of 1:10 and apply it on the affected area using a cotton swab twice daily until you get the desired result.  Simply put a few drops of clove oil on a piece of cloth or tissue and place it on your forehead and leave it on for about 15 minutes to help open the blood vessels and alleviate your headache. Another option is to mix one teaspoon of sea salt and two or three drops of clove oil in two teaspoons of almond oil, coconut oil or any carrier oil and massage it on your forehead.

  32. DANDELION  Dandelion: the only natural occurring potassium-sparing diuretic. A rich source of vitamins and minerals and the increase in bile flow will help improve fat metabolism in the body (weight loss). Very valuable herb used as a liver tonic to promote healthy digestion.

  33. LEMONGRASS  The health benefits of lemongrass include relief from stomach disorders, insomnia, respiratory disorders, fever, aches, infections, rheumatism and edema.  The defensive antioxidant activity of the lemongrass herb protects against antibiotic-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and helps in maintaining optimum cholesterol levels, cellular health, nervous system, healthy skin and immune system.  Lemongrass is also effective in treating type 2 diabetes, cancer, and obesity, while also aiding in detoxification. It is extensively used in aromatherapy and helps to combat fatigue, anxiety and body odor.  It is a source of essential vitamins such as vitamin A, B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacin) B5 (pantothenic acid), B6 (pyridoxine), folate and vitamin C. It also provides essentil minerals such as potassium, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, manganese, copper, zinc and iron, which are required for the healthy functioning of the human body. 

  34. MORINGA  Gram for gram, moringa leaves contain: SEVEN times the vitamin C in oranges, FOUR times the Calcium in milk, FOUR times the vitamin A in carrots, TWO times the protein in milk and THREE times the Potassium in bananas.

  35. MORINGA  One cup of fresh, chopped leaves (21 grams) contains the following (2): ◦ Protein: 2 grams. ◦ Vitamin B6: 19% of the RDA. ◦ Vitamin C: 12% of the RDA. ◦ Iron: 11% of the RDA. ◦ Riboflavin (B2): 11% of the RDA. ◦ Vitamin A (from beta-carotene): 9% of the RDA. ◦ Magnesium: 8% of the RDA.  Quercetin:This powerful antioxidant may help lower blood pressure (13, 14).  Chlorogenic acid may help moderate blood sugar levels after meals (15, 16).

  36. SOURSOP  Hair and skin problems: Soursop is good at treating a number of hair problems such as split ends, dandruff, and falling hair, greying, and head lice. To derive these benefits make a tea from the leaves and use it as a hair rinse.  Treating blood disorders: Because the tree is rich is rich in iron, teas made from soursop fruit and leaves are great for treating anemia and increasing red blood cell count. It is also good for reducing hypertension; and because of its antibacterial properties, it is very effective in curing infections. Placing a whole fresh leaf on a cut, sore, or wound should help healing progress more quickly than when left untreated.  Treating Breast Cancer: Soursop leaves have been shown to kill cancer cells 10,000 times more effectively than other treatments, with the added benefit that it does not harm healthy cells. Soursop has also been found to be very effective in treating the side-effects of chemotherapy. However, in some countries it has been used as a treatment for colon, prostate, and lung cancers with some success.

  37. SOURSOP  Disorders of the organs: Soursop leaf tea can treat gallbladder problems, liver ailments, and it can even lower glucose levels in diabetics by stimulating increased insulin production by aiding the beta cells in the pancreas.  Nutrient Content: Both the leaves and the fruit of the soursop tree contain high levels of Vitamins A and B, and C, fiber, iron, potassium, calcium.  Immune system booster: soursop tea can be used to perk up and feel better quicker when getting over a cold or flu. Some even think it will slow the progress of AIDS.  Sleep aide: in the Caribbean soursop tea has been used for centuries as a treatment for insomnia, or one can just put a few fresh leaves into their pillow for that effect.  Painful swollen feet: to reduce the discomfort brew some soursop tea and use as a foot soak.  Arthritis and gout: soursop leaves can be mashed and rubbed on joints to reduce the pain.

  38. GUAVA  The health benefits of guava include the treatment of diarrhea, dysentery, constipation, cough, cold, skin care, high blood pressure, weight loss and scurvy.  This popular fruit is a powerhouse of nutrients. If the traditional adage says that “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” in Europe and Americas, the phrase is probably changed to “A few guavas in the season keeps the doctor away for the whole year” in the Indian Subcontinent and places where guavas typically grow. Its scientific name is Psidium Guajava.  What makes guava special is that protecting the fruit does not require excessive use of chemical pesticides as in the case of grapes, apple, and other so-c

  39. GUAVA  Weight loss:Guava is very helpful for those who want to lose weight without compromising their intake of proteins, vitamins and fiber.  Diabetes: which decreases the chances of major spikes and drops in insulin and glucose in the body. Studies have shown that consuming guava can help prevent the appearance of type-2 diabetes.  Eyesight: Guavas are extremely good sources of vitamin-A, which is well known as a booster for vision health. It can help slow down the appearance of cataracts, macular degeneration, and general health of the eyes.  Cancer Prevention: One of the most celebrated and important benefits of adding guava to your diet is its ability to inhibit the growth and metastasis of cancerous cells. There have been numerous studies done in recent years on guava’s effects primarily on prostate cancer, breast cancer, and oral cancers  Scurvy: Guava can outdo many other fruits, including orange and other citrus fruits, in terms of its concentration of vitamin-C. In fact, guavas contain 5X more vitamin-C than oranges, which are often heralded as the absolute best source of that beneficial vitamin.

  40. GUAVA  Diarrhea & dysentery: Guava is very rich in astringents (compounds that make your gums feel tighter and fresher). After you chew guava leaves, eat a raw guava, or use some guava-based toothpaste), your mouth feels healthier, and the astringent qualities also add substance to loose bowels and reduce symptoms of diarrhea.  Thyroid Health: Guavas are a good source for copper, which is an important part of regulating thyroid metabolism by helping to control hormone production and absorption.  Constipation: Guava is one of the richest sources of dietary fiber in terms of fruit. Its seeds, if ingested whole or chewed, serve as excellent laxatives. These two properties of guava help the formation of healthy bowel movements, and aid the body in retaining water and thoroughly cleaning your intestines and excretory system  Brain Health: Another of the tremendous positive benefits of guavas is the presence of B3 and B6 vitamins. B3 (also known as niacin) can increase blood flow and stimulates cognitive function. B6 is a great nutrient for brain and nerve function. Therefore, eating guava can help you increase brain function and sharpen you focus.

  41. GUAVA  Cough & cold: Juice of raw and immature guavas or a decoction of guava- leaves is very helpful in relieving coughs and colds by reducing mucus, disinfecting the respiratory tract, throat and lungs, and inhibiting microbial activity with its astringent properties. Guava has one of the highest quantities of vitamin-C and iron among fruits, and both are proven to be preventive against colds and viral infections. Ripe guava should be avoided by people who are suffering from cough and cold, as it can exacerbate the problem, and one should also avoid drinking water immediately after eating guava as it can lead to a sore throat.  Skin care: Guavas can improve the texture of your skin and help you to avoid skin problems more than even the highest ranked beauty creams or skin toner gels. This is chiefly due to the abundance of astringents in the fruit (more astringent is present in immature guavas) and in its leaves. Your skin can benefit from either eating the fruits (this helps tighten your muscles apart from your skin) or by rinsing your skin with a decoction of its immature fruit and leaves. It will tone up and tighten the area of loosened skin where you apply it  High blood pressure: Guava helps reduce cholesterol in the blood and prevents it from thickening, thereby maintaining the fluidity of blood and reducing blood pressure.

  42. BASIL  Basil is a very good source of vitamin A and also an excellent source of vitamin K and manganese, a very good source of copper and vitamin C, and a good source of calcium, iron, folate and omega-3 fatty acids.  Basil’s enzyme-inhibiting effect of the eugenol in basil qualifies basil as an "anti-inflammatory" food that can provide important healing benefits along with symptomatic relief for individuals with inflammatory health problems like rheumatoid arthritis or inflammatory bowel conditions. .  Basil is also a good source of magnesium, which promotes cardiovascular health by prompting muscles and blood vessels to relax, thus improving blood flow and lessening the risk of irregular heart rhythms or a spasming of the heart muscle or a blood vessel.
