  13. Question of the Day Why do people listen to you? What reasons do you give them to follow you? Good leaders find a way to connect with people. They earn their right to be followed. They build bridges of relationship that can bear the weight of principle.

  14. Reflect & Respond Reflect on why people follow you: Which reasons are true about your influence with people? Why do people follow you? If you do not feel that you are a leader and have the influence of Paul Revere, but feel more like William Dawes, which of the ten skills presented do you feel you should work on? Why do you feel that you do not influence others?

  15. Reflect & Respond As leaders, the question of influence is not about the “what” but the “how”. The way we treat our team members is an important piece of the puzzle in motivating them into action. Who do you consider to be members of your team? How might this consideration affect your influence? Who do you feel influences your actions? Which of the ten character traits used to influence and motivate others do you think this person exhibits?
