Additional functions • Esther Alexander – Publicity and Membership Development • Vicki Almstrum – Webmaster • Leslie Martinich – Liaison to Technology Mgt Council • WIE is an Affinity Group of the CTS with the goal of furthering the professional development of its members and providing a forum for networking. • Programs are often held jointly with other chapters. • WIE Leadership team in Austin in place.

WIE Planning Meetings • WIE Steering Committee conference calls and face to face meetings • Held in Austin at the workplaces of committee members and at area restaurants • Have included tours of the NI factory, the IBM Solutions Lab, and the Freescale test lab • Take place routinely except for July and December • Met in Jan ‘08 and Jun ‘08 at local restaurants • Recruited new secretary and treasurer and additional volunteers

Summer/Fall 2008 Plans • Expand membership • Plan a social/networking event • Broad range of programs • July 2008 • UT WEP, Dinner with an Engineer, 7/23 • UT WEP, Design Your World Workshop, 7/25 • Sept. 2008 • Joint meeting with SWE • Develop IEEE STEM /School training material • Participation in Maker’s Faire

  6. Issues • No WIE activity outside of Austin (in particular, in San Antonio) at present • Need to broaden the pool of active WIE members
