  2. General information • The 2012 Summer Olympic Games are officially known as the Games of the XXX Olympiad • The third time for London to host Olympics • From 27 July to 12 August 2012

  3. Olympic venues • The majority of venues have been divided into three zones within Greater London: the Olympic Zone, the River Zone and theCentral Zone • In addition to these are those venues thatare outside the boundaries of Greater London

  4. The Olympic Zone • 500 acre Olympic Park in Stratford will contain: • The Olympic Stadium • The Aquatics Centre • The London Velopark • The Olympic Hockey Centre • The Olympic Village • The Olympic Press and Broadcast Centres Design of the Olympic Stadium

  5. The River Zone • It will feature five main venues in the Thames Gateway: • The ExCeL Exhibition Centre (boxing, judo, etc) • The O2 arena (trampolining) • North Greenwich Arena 2 (badminton) • Greenwich Park • Temporary shooting ranges

  6. The Central Zone • Venues quite widely spread across central and West London: • Wembley Stadium (football finals) • Regent's Park (road cycling) • Hyde Park (triathlon) • Earls Court (volleyball) • Wimberldon (tennis)

  7. The Olympic village • 17,320 beds and provides each athlete with 16m² floor space • 3,300 apartments • Each with a TV, internet accessand a private courtyard • The dining hall will cater for 5,500 athletes at a time

  8. Public transport • Low or no-emission vehicles will be used to transport Olympic athletes and officials • 80% of athletes will travel less than 20 minutes to their event • The Park - 10 separate railway lines with a capacity of 240,000 passengers á hour

  9. Ticketing • Organisers estimate about 7.7 million tickets for the Olympics • Going on sale in 2011, with at least 50% priced under £20 • Ticketholders would be entitled to free use of London's public transport on the day of the event

  10. Olympic flag • The flag was raised outside City Hall on Friday, 26 September 2008 to celebrate the start of the cultural Olympiad • The flag will continue to fly outside City Hall until the day of the Olympic opening ceremony http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yz47ZQlBwmQ
