  2. Computer based testing • In spring 2011, the following assessments will be computer-based only [with paper versions for certain students whose individual education plans (IEPs) indicate this accommodation]: • Grade 10 FCAT Mathematics • FCAT Mathematics Retake • Algebra 1 End-of-Course (EOC) Assessment • Biology and Geometry EOC Field Tests (no paper-based accommodations)

  3. Algebra 1 • The assessment will be given in one 160-minute session with a 10-minute break after the first 80 minutes. • There will be three forms of the assessment, with a maximum of 65 items on each form. • Each form of the assessment will include 35-40 multiple-choice and 25-30 fill-in response items. Approximately six to 10 of these items are experimental (field test) items, and are NOT included in student scores.

  4. ONLINE resources • www.fcatexplorer.com • Students will be able to practice sample 10th grade FCAT questions. They will practice multiple choice and gridded response questions on the same environment that they will take the test (computer) • www.pearsonaccess.com • This website will allow the students to practice for their End of Course exam for Algebra 1. In the home page, select Florida from the drop-down menu and then select the ePAT tab on the top. Afterwards, select on the practice exam to open* the test. (*you might need to install the ePAT launder)

  5. ONLINE resources • www.explorelearning.com • ExploreLearning.com offers the world's largest library of interactive online simulations for math and science education in grades 3-12. We call these simulations Gizmos. Gizmos are: • fun, easy to use, and help students develop a deep understanding of challenging concepts through inquiry and exploration. Research-based gizmos are ideal for small group work, individual exploration, and whole class instruction.

  6. Encourage use of FCAT Reference Sheet. • Enforce specific time and place for math practice. • Monitor daily use of online resources. • Use of calculator in solving math problems. • Complete Math HW Daily. • Math Tutoring (Saturday Success Academy). • Practice doing extra questions. • Daily “Problem-of-the-Block” Activities
