    4. Internships @ Deakin . . . Internships : Experiential Learning Business at Deakin have a wide range of Internship options for credit toward degree programs These Internships allow students to gain real world work experience and to apply their theoretical knowledge whilst gaining a tertiary qualification Available to both domestic, international and education abroad students Can be completed in Australia or overseas - in first semester, second semester or summer semester

    6. Who and when . . . Who does internships? Third year students with a solid base of theoretical knowledge and skills Mature students, preparing for the workforce Students with a strong focus of life after graduation and career objectives Timeframe 104 hour minimum in workplace For example : 1 day per week x 13 weeks = 104 hours 2 days per week x 7 weeks = 104 hours 3 week block = 104 hours

Assessment . . . 100% progressive Business Internships Negotiation with host & documentation 20% Completion of entries in eJournal 30% (reflective observation) Completion of Project Report or Case Study* 50% * Most students combining VW + BIP will following the Case Study guidelines for Assignment 3.

    8. VW + BIP . . . how does it work? How do you combine paid vacation work with a Business Internship? Simple . . . The assessment tasks that define the internship fit neatly over the top of paid vacation work. Vac work is effectively a pre-negotiated, well defined, high quality experiential learning opportunity. Employers are very supportive - for them it is seen as an additional and beneficial layer of quality control. By completing the additional internship assessment you get to have your cake and eat it too!
