  1. Roommate Selection The Guide The term Roommate also applies to Suite-mates and Apartment-mates

  2. Setting Up Roommate Groups

  3. Who Should I Choose?Consider . . . YOU VS. YOUR ROOMMATE(S)

  4. Roommate Requesting Process • Everyone in your group must mutually select each other via MyHousing. • You must finalize all roommate selections prior to the earliest lottery for which your roommate group is eligible. • Once everyone is matched up in your group, whichever roommate has the earliest lottery time can sign everyone up! Make sure you trust your roommates with your assignment!

  5. Setup Your Roommate Group via MyHousingwithin on the College Life tab • Your Username & Initial Password was provided in your MSC Acceptance Letter • Your MAVzone username • is normally the first letter • of your first name followed by the • first seven letters of your last name. • To look up your username, • go to the Campus Directory • and use the search function. • Your username is the text in front of the • @ in your email address. Trouble? Call the IT Help Desk, 970.248.2111.

  6. To Be Eligible to Set Up a Roommate Groupor to be added to a Room Selection Lottery • When you apply for housing, you MUST submit: • 1 – Housing Application • 2 – Housing & Dining Contract • (signed by a parent/guardian if you are under 18) • 3 – Housing Deposit • If any of these items are missing or incomplete, you will not be added into Roommate Selection or any Room Selection Lotteries. • Your friends might be able to add you as a roommate, but your status will read Student Ineligible.

  7. After you sign into MyHousing . . . This box has your Room Selection Lotteries, including start/end times.

  8. To set up your roommate group, go to the Room Selection menu and click Roommate Selection

  9. When you click on “Room Selection” . . .If you haven’t signed a Housing & Dining Contract you will be asked to accept the contract before continuing in the process. Make sure you read and understand the contract. Your online agreement to the contract is legally binding.

  10. As soon as you submit your search, your roommate will be notified that you added them via MSC email. Search for your roommates here. If your roommate does not currently live on campus or has not applied for housing, you will not be able to add them yet.

  11. If you are making roommate requestsbefore your friends, you will see that your request is unmatched until that request is confirmed.

  12. If you have a pending request, you will be able to Decline or Confirm here. When you Add, Delete, Confirm or Decline a Roommate Request, the student will receive a notice on their MSC email.

  13. You can see exactly which of your roommates confirmed matches within your group. You stay in control! No guessing if the other roommates did their part!

  14. If you want to “Remind” your friend that you have a pending request, just click the “Remind” button and they will receive an email reminder. Remember:Each roommate received an email notification when you first added them so only use this as a reminder later on.

  15. This is your goal – a fully matched roommate group! Your group MUST be fully matched before you can choose a room!

  16. On MyHousing Overview, you can monitor your roommate group . If one of your roommates picks a room without you, you’ll see it here as well as on yourRoommate Selection page.

  17. Just a quick glance intoRoom Selection . . . (see the full Room Selection slideshow for more info) The roommate with the earliest lottery time can place all roommates within a room, suite or apartment. Make sure your group has decided on a plan!

  18. You’re done! That’s it! Once your roommate group is fully matched, just wait for your Room Selection process. Remember: The roommate with the earliest lottery time can place all roommates within a room, suite or apartment. Make sure your group has agreed on a plan and backup plans! Try to be together (ie - in the same room) when the roommate with the earliest lottery time chooses housing for the group! There are no room changes until the Room Change Lottery. During the room change lottery, each roommate must complete their own room change, you can’t pull roommates in.
