Capability for generating, transferring, appropriating and using new knowledge. Significance of mechanisms and instruments for working focused and jointly as an Articulated System.

  3. Features Strategy for promoting meeting points among university students, businessmen and productive sector agents. These spaces, named University - Enterprise - State Committees (CUEE, for its Spanish name), are developed at regional level. They look for settling a strong liaison among universities, enterprises and the State, through which generate and promote projects that become regional development engines.

  4. Features The Ministry of National Education of Colombia has supported the creation of eight (8) Committees Costa Caribe Bogotá - región Valle del Cauca Antioquia Santander & Santander del Norte Nariño- Cauca Eje Cafetero Tolima-Huila

  5. Examples of Projects Caribbean Coast Case: Energy Supply Management System Associates: Universidad Tecnológica de Bolívar, & Cementos Argos Zona Franca Goal: establishing structured methodologies to reach a sustainable energy consumption reduction in the cement production process Actual outcomes: energetic profile building of the plant, and joint definition of an energy reduction culture transferable to Argos’ other plants

Examples of Projects Bogotá - region Case: Myoelectric Prosthesis for People with an Amputated Hand Associates: Escuela Colombiana de Ingeniería, & Clínica de Rehabilitación Teletón Goal: developing a low cost functional prosthesis capable of providing sensorial feedback to patients Actual outcomes: development of a semi-industrial optimal prototype for reducing the number of electronic cards required

  7. Examples of Projects Valle del Cauca Case: Assembly of a System for Rolls Washing Water Treatment Associates: Universidad del Valle, & Bico Internacional S.A. Goal: reducing environmental impact of the waste produced when manufacturing notebooks, by means of a water treatment plant that uses innovative low cost technologies Actual outcomes: development of an industrial prototype used in the production plant of Bico Internacional S.A.

Examples of Projects Antioquia Case: Generating Plant of Hot Gases for Industrial Processes Associates: Universidad de Antioquia, Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Universidad Nacional, & Ladrillera San Cristóbal Goal: developing a coal gasifier equipment that generates a fuel gas to be used for brick ovens, that can be also used for biomass gasifying Actual outcomes: leading test plant to generate hot gases for brick ovens

Examples of Projects Santander Case: School Field, a Great Laboratory for Real Learning Associates: Universidad Industrial de Santander, & EmpresaColombiana de Petróleos (Ecopetrol, for its Spanish name). Goal: developing an oil extraction field to support training, research and production of hydrocarbons Actual outcomes: development of an oil extraction field with five (5) wells, producing 30 barrels a day, where undergraduate and postgraduate students join researchers

Examples of Projects Nariño - Cauca Case: Strengthening Productive Chains, Aquaculture Chain in Cauca Associates: Universidad del Cauca, Centro de Productividad del Cauca, Red empresarial de Silvia, & Agropesca del Cauca. Goal: facilitating the access of the Cauca aquaculture chain products into better compensated markets Actual outcomes: complete follow up (environmental management, production and management of processing plants) to producers of the aquaculture industry in Cauca, allowing their access to domestic and foreign market chains
