Acording to ESA (Entertainment Association Software): • the average player age in the US is 30, • the average game buyer age in the US is 35, • there is no statistical correlation between violence and video game consumption. … the longest time of playing computer game amounts 135 hours. … in some counrties such as South Korea there are departments dealing with game addiction (in Korea about 2% of children aged 11 – 16 is addicted to games). … in Korea a game addiction of a couple to a game called Prius Online led to a death of a baby due to parental neglect.   5. 1. How often do students play games? We have conducted a questionaire concerning games in our school. Students, teachers and parents were aked questions about games. We asked twenty students from our lower high school a questionaire about playing games. As we can see from the data boys tend to play games more often than girls.

  6. 2. Where do students usually play games? The data that we show the most frequently mentioned place is home. It is worth noticing that students hardly ever play games at school (during the lesson), which is a shame.

  7. 3. Who do students play the games with? Girls prefer playing with their families(60%) or with somebody who is nearby (70%). The most favourable way of playing games in case of boys is playing with online gamers (80%).

  8. 4. Why do students play games? We also wanted to know what’s the reason students play games so frequently. Both boys and girls claim that playing games is a kind of relaxation after school (80% of respondents altogether). Only some students use games to learn something new (15% of all respondents).

What languages are the games students play in? • It’s wondering that in the contrary to girls who prefer playing games in a mother tongue, all of male respondents answered that the preferable language of a game they play is English. Only one person mentioned about playing games in a different language than Polish orEnglish.

  10. 6. What are students favourite games? • The most frequently mentioned names of games in the questionaire were connected with board games and role-playing games in case of girls (The Sims, Monopoly) while boys are more likely to play action, sports, strategy or shooter games. To some extent the tendency is similar in the USA, which is shown by the statistics from 2013 prepared by ESA.

  11. 7. Do teachers play games with students during the lesson? We have asked this question teachers of primary education as well as teachers of a lower high school. 60% of respondents use games during their lessons. According to Berland, almost 75% of his respondents claim that they use games several times a week or at least once a week. There were only 3% of teachers who don’t use games during lessons.

  12. As far as types of games are concerned, all the teachers who took part in the survey admitted using educational games in class. More than half of them (60%)say they play card games, whereas two out of ten respondents claim that playing board, comuter and viedeo games may be beneficial while teaching their subjects.

  13. 9. How often do teachers use the games during the lesson? The statisctics gathered by Berland for Dell company in 2012 show that the frequency of using games depends on a taught subject. English is the second subject after Technology where games are used by teachers. Two of them often use games as a tool of teaching something new. Another 30% of respondents sometimes make use of them while one of them hardly ever takes advantage of such games.   14. 10. What is teachers’ opinion about using games? Most teachers claim that such activities Distract students. An equal percentage of teachers express their opinion that games are useful but at the same time it is difficult to keep students concentrated.   15. The last question concerned the obstacles which teachers may meet when they want to introduce games during the lesson. In their opinion, the problems such as lack of proper equipment as well as parents’ disapproval are of similar importance. From the data from the pool commissioned by Dell company and conducted by Penn Schoen Berland in the US, China and Germany in 2012 show that teachers have to struggle with the following problems while integrating games into a lesson unit: • intergrating with curriculum, • insufficient availability of computers, • negative attitudes toward games, • lack of time, • lacking information and support, • inappropriate behaviour of children, • technical problems.   16. Parents’ response … 70% of parents answered that the games should be used at school while 30% of respondents were of the opposite idea.

It can be a useful tool for somebody who’d like to know new vocabulary or grammar. This game hasn’t got age restrictions, so anybody can play games and learn by means of this page. The page offers a variety of activities such as matching games, wordsearch puzzle, quizzes, etc. One can also make their own activities. Morover, this page alows you to compete with other players.

  18. www.prezi.com It is a very innovative and useful programme for creating class presentations. The application makes it easy to prepare an interesting presentation consisting of questions presented with various background themes. This programme is recommended to students of middle and high schools (age group : 13 – 18)

  19. www.learningapps.org Learning Apps.org is a website which allows you to learn something new playing games or using applications. It’s free and available for everyone. Kids and teachers are welcome. You can create apps or play those created by other users. The aim is to show you that it’s possible to study and have fun in the same time.

Perfect Teacher • Contrary to appearances, students like discipline. • It would be good if teachers paid attention to pronunciation because most students know grammar well but they have problems with communication. • If someone has a different accent for example American, Irish or Scottish teachers should accept it.

Perfect beginning • We think that teachers should start lessons by repeating all the things from the previous lesson, for example play games like throwing a ball to someone or something similar • teachers shouldn’t do short tests without informing us in advance. • If teachers want to check students’knowlege they can ask a few questions at the desk.

Perfect development of the lesson • First, teachers should check homework. • Then they should introduce new material and write down the most important points. • Then students should do exercises conncted with the topic. • Next students can work in groups and present something in front of the group.

  26. Perfect ending • After that students can do listening and speaking. It’s so important to learn a language which people use daily, in life. • at the end of the lesson students should repeat material from the lesson • teachers can give short homework for consolidation. • Teachers can reward students with pluses or give minuses for participation during the lesson.

  37. Our classes should be more modern with more electronic equipment. Every teenager could focus on modern things e.g tablets, projectors etc. We should have more space in classes. Our tables could be single as you can see here. The teacher should stand onthe platform so that we can see better.

  40. The survey told us that: • students like when teacher is understanding, when he has positive attitude and sence of humor • students don’t like when teachers are malice and injustice • we like dyscypline in the lesson • it is good to summarsing new material and play educational games
