  2. Key Responsibility : Charging We recommend that your charge your device overnight using the charger provided All functions will be disabled on your device when on charge. When taken off charge the device will be on, this saves the user switching the device on and off.

Switching on your device Press and hold the status check and Amber Alert buttons Remember the Device is on when removed from charging The device will give 1 vibration the device will now go through various vibrations light and volume checks before settling and completing a battery check then signal check and then a GPS check device is now on

  5. Switching off your device Press and hold the status check and Amber Alert buttons The device will give off two short vibrations and there will be no lights visible. To confirm that your device is switched off press and hold the status check button. NHSGGC

  6. Status Check Is the device in good working order? Press and hold the Status button until the display and LEDs start to flash. Look for the battery symbol and colour, this will be followed by a signal symbol and a colour followed by the GPS blue light flashing • - No Lights - No battery/signal strength • Red – Low battery/signal strength • Amber – Poor battery/signal strength • Constant Green - Fully charged/ strong signal strength

  7. GPS Devices Finding a GPS fix can take up to 2 minutes GPS does not work indoors or in built up areas GPS will not provide exact location details GPS does not replace the amber alert function

  8. Key Responsibility : Amber Alert Press and hold the Amber Alert button • You will feel three vibrations and the lights will turn solid amber. A warning triangle will also appear in the LED Screen. • One small vibration and the lights flash amber, this means that the call is connected – speak now • The lights will then go solid amber again, alerting you that only 10 seconds remaining to leave your message • The call will automatically disconnect after 24 seconds.

Raising a Red Alert Pull Rip Alarm Pin Out Press and hold the Red Alert button The Pin must be put back in to socket before you attempt to close RED Alert The device will vibrate three times and the LCD screen will show the alert triangle symbol You will then feel 2 intermittent ‘heartbeat’ vibrations every 10s To cancel the Red Alert Wait for the ‘heartbeat’ vibrations, then state you are now out of danger and you are cancelling the Red Alert. This should be when you are out of ear shot and eye shot of the person who caused the issue. Never close while you are still in the property even if the situation has calmed down. Press the ‘Red Alert’ central button on the device until two slower vibrations are felt and the alert triangle symbol has disappeared and no more vibrations are felt.

What Warrants a Police Escalation The ARC operator can determine an assault is taking place A serious criminal offence has or is about to happen The user is in real distress The operator must be able to confirm the users location and communicate this information to the police. -Users location is provided within Amber Alert- Calls are handled in 2 ways: Via 999/101

  13. Additional Features: One or Two Way Audio Devices with two way audio enabled allow the user to speak to a Reliance Protect operator through the device. The operator will only communicate through 2 Way Audio when instructed by the user to break silence.

Dynamic Risk Assessment While carrying your Lone Worker device you should carry out your own risk assessments Points to consider: Is the device being used in accordance with the instructions and training provided? Will the emergency services be able to respond to an alert Have I checked the network and signal coverage in the area? Do I need to make any prior arrangements? Arrange a buddy call to a colleague, 2 Person visit, Re-book visit to take place at alternative location? The solution and device supplements your organisations policies and procedures, it does not replace them!

Data Protection and Freedom of Information Act Amber Alert recorded information stored for 3 months Genuine Red Alerts are stored for 12 months and can be used for Police evidence or internal investigations. The audio is owned by the client not Reliance Protect. False Red Alerts are deleted within 24 hours. The information we store can be made available to the personal responsible for the Lone Worker devices within your organisation and may be used to assist in any investigation and or legal action against an alleged assailant. Remember when an aggressor places you under threat they lose legal right to be informed that you are raising a Red Alert Recording.

Monthly Activity Report All of the information recorded is time and date stamped and allows us to quickly identify any problems with battery and or signal issues Your employer will be provided with a report detailing the usage and activity on your device.
