  2. CONTACT INFO • I can be reached at 330-633-4515 (extension 4012) • I can also be reached via e-mail: dove.katherine@tallmadgeschools.org

  3. Our Class Website 1. Go to www.tallmadgeschools.org 2. Select Dunbar from the list of schools. 3. Click on the Teachers tab and select Dove, Katherine and you’re there! This is where you can find important information about what is happening in our room.

  4. Behavior Management • I use the green/yellow/red light behavior management system. Every child starts the day on green. If they need more than a reminder to make a good choice then they turn their light to yellow. If they need an additional reminder that same day they turn their light to red. When they have a red light they complete a "think about it" paper to be taken home and signed by a parent. If they receive several red lights in a row, I call home.

  5. FOLDERS • The greenfolder comes home on Mondays with all the work from the previous week as well as the new spelling words. Please return the folder on Tuesdays.

  6. HOMEWORK • Each child has up to 10 spelling words weekly. The first five are the same for the whole class and the subsequent words are based on their ability level. The weekly words go home in the gold folder on Mondays. The tests are on Fridays. • Math facts are a big part of the second grade curriculum so please use addition and subtraction flashcards with your child.

  7. SUPPLIES • The $25.00 one-time supply fee goes toward materials such as: math workbook, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue, pencils, erasers, etc. • Please also send in a box of tissues.

  8. SNACK I do allow the kids to bring in a small snack for a morning snack. Please make sure it is something healthy that can be eaten in about 5 minutes. (No candy please.) The children can also bring in a water bottle to use throughout the day. Please make sure it is only filled with water because it is much easier to clean up spills if it is only water.

  9. SPECIALS Along with your classroom teacher, your child will have the opportunity to work with other teachers as part of our program: Tuesday 8:45-9:35 ArtMr. Blackiston Wednesday 10:25-11:15 Music Mr. Singer Thursday 10:30-11:00 Library Mrs. Hussing Friday 10:25-11:15 P.E. Ms. Gustavel

  10. BIRTHDAYS I plan to acknowledge each child’s birthday. Feel free to send in a birthday treat. If your child’s birthday is in the summer, we will celebrate at the end of the school year, just let me know what day you choose. Many children will have parties and want to invite classroom friends. Because we are concerned with the feelings of all the children, we do not permit children to distribute party invitations at school unless you are inviting the entire class.
