Safety Transparency by Marc Tavlet Safety Training 1- General • Part I: General for newcomers (to get the CERN access card) 1 hour • CERN safety policy, safety rules • Traffic rules, safety signs • First-aid (very basic), general emergency means… • Part II: Working in risk areas 1 hour • Radiation, lasers… • Gas and chemicals • Electricity, cryogenics… • Work in underground areas 1 hour • Access, INB, organisation… • Specific signs, breathing masks and other protective equipments

Safety Transparency by Marc Tavlet Safety Training 2- Specific at Point 2 • Access and escape routes • Location of safety materials (breathing masks, first-aid box…) • Location of fire fighting equipment (hoses, extinguishers) • Location emergency stops • Who’s who in terms of safety • Electrical sources • Sources of Flammable Gases • Be vacuum pipe • Lasers

  3. Safety Transparency by Marc Tavlet Safety Training 3- Optional, for specific people • Lifting tools (including specific ones from Institutes) 12 hours ! These also have to be approved and checked ! • ‘Habilitation Electrique’ 12 hours • Confined space 8 hours • First-aid ; CERN policy request 1/10 12 hours

Safety Transparency by Marc Tavlet Safety Training Organisation • For introductory general courses (half a day) : Every Tuesday, am in French, pm in English, building 65-1-003 Additional session may be organized on request (76664 or 72274), but TIS looks for volunteers in the collaborations to give these courses. • Specific courses for Point 2 will be organized on request, on the spot (by the Glimos) • Other specific courses : register from the web page CERN => “Training&Development” => “Safety Training” See also on the web => “Safety at CERN” => “Safety Training”
