  3. Why Web-based Lecture/Lab Exercises? • Easy update information. I can modify the contents of notes one hour before the lecture. • Students can access on-line Internet mapping examples with the lecture/lab instructions. • Paper free (Except for the lab grading). • Multi-media Enhancement. (Flash animation, Mpeg movies…) • No TA for this course.

Implementation Strategy • Creating a Web Server (located in my office, SH326) • http://map.sdsu.edu/geo596 • Settings of Student’s Web Accounts on the Server • 25 students account and web folders • 8 group project accounts and web folders • Implementation of ESRI ArcIMS 3.1, ServletEngine, ASP, etc. • Settings of GIS lab workstation in SAL lab (with help from our lab managers) • Installation of ArcIMS Manager on each local machine • Installation of VRML players, MapGuide Viewer, IMS Viewer.
