  4. DECA Updates • Chapter Manual • 2011-2012 Theme: “Aspire Higher” •  Details about the blazer patch exchange program will soon be posted athttp://www.deca.org/shop/. Both blazer patches will be accepted at ICDC in Salt Lake City. • 3 Recognition Programs: • The 2011-2012 Membership Campaign • DECA Week Promotional Campaign • Global Entrepreneurship Week Campaign • The competitive events guidelines for 2011-2012, as well as new sample role plays and case studies, have been posted at  http://www.deca.org/competitions/highschool. Check out a new publication called "Excel in DECA's Competitive Events Program." • New Competitive Events: Individual Series- Business Finance & Human Resources Management Marketing Representative Events- Sports & Entertainment Promotion Plan Professional Selling Events- Hospitality & Tourism Professional Selling

  7. Local Officer Training Program • As indicated on the 2011-2012 Program of Work, each chapter is required to complete a Local Officer Training Program • Local Officer Training Program will be available July 15th. Emailed on the CTAERN, on the website by July 31st.

  8. Local Officer Training Program • Advisors will submit the names of all completers and forms in order to receive recognition of participation • Must submit a POW, Budget, & Calendar • Once the forms are submitted a chapter certificate will be sent to Advisors. • NO CHARGE!

  9. Affiliation • Per the Program of Work, your chapter must be PAID and AFFILIATED by October 1, 2011 • You do not have to have every member by this date, but you must be registered and affiliated • This report will be forwarded to the State Department • Students enrolled in courses in the 4 clusters are eligible to be members.

  10. Delinquent Policy Step 1: Thirty (30) Days Past Due: • Once a school is thirty (30) days past due, an invoice will be sent to the school to the attention of the advisor and to the principal. • The invoice will address the balance due. • The invoice will inform the advisor of a 1 % late fee (on the total amount past due), with a minimum late fee of $25 per month. • A letter will be included addressed to both the chapter advisor and the school principal indicating that chapter registration for any DECA activity has been cancelled. • Advisors will not be allowed to register on the online system • Chapters arriving at DECA events without all fees paid or prior approval from the DECA State Advisor will be sent home and not allowed to participate. • Checks may not be brought to the DECA event on the day of the event without prior approval from the DECA State Advisor. Chapters doing so will not be allowed to participate. • Checks must be received by the State Office prior to the event or chapters will not be allowed to participate (if the advisor is in doubt that the check will reach the office in time through traditional mail should send payment overnight or hand-delivered to the State Office). • All disputes should be sent, in writing, to the Georgia DECA State Office. Step 2: Over Thirty (30) days past due • Any chapters with financial obligations past due over 30 days will be referred to the DECA State Office for collections and the chapter will be denied participation in all events at the Region, State, and International Level.

  11. Work Win Wow • September 23, 2011 (Lanier Charter Career Academy) • It will consist of roundtable discussions and 6-8 different break-out sessions • Registration fee of $50 will include opening session, break-out sessions, breakfast, lunch, snack, gift and prizes

  18. DECA Day with the Falcons • Sunday, November 20th 1pm • Atlanta Falcons vs. Tennessee Titans • Special Price $40. • $10 per ticket goes to the DECA Foundation • Encourage participation!

  19. Region Competition • Online Testing January 23-25, 2012 • Testing opens 8am on January 23rd and closes at 5pm on January 25th • Region Hosts will receive results by 7pm on January 25th • Only Principles of Business & Administration Events and Individual Series Events will participate in Online Testing • Testing only events and role plays will take place at Region Competition. • Need Region 8 Hosts

Georgia DECA Foundation • It is IMPERATIVE that advisors, chapters, alumni, and parents support the Foundation! • Incentives: With a $25 donation… • The chapter will receive (1) extra competitor slot to be used at region or state • You can receive (1) slot for an advisor donation and (1) slot for a chapter donation for a total of (2) slots • The chapter members will be eligible to apply for needs scholarships

GMEA Membership Incentive • Each advisor that is a PAID and CURRENT member of ACTE/GACTE/GMEA will receive (2) extra competitor slots for their chapter to use at region or state competition • You must be PAID and CURRENT through March 1, 2012 • Please check your membership to see if it is coming up for renewal so you don’t miss out!
