  1. Curriculum Development System: The HOW of it JOHN PAUL R. PACYAO Certificate in Teacher Education (CTE) Student Southern Philippines Agri-Business and Marine and Aquatic School of Technology (SPAMAST) Malita, Davao Occidental

  2. In this lesson, we will focus on the systems approach to curriculum development. By the end of this lesson, you should be able to select a model that is most appropriate for the setting for which you are designingor evaluatingcurriculum.

  3. How can unity, continuity and quality be achieved through the school curriculum?

  4. Curriculum development is often done in a haphazard manner. May have a hidden agenda due to factors such as: • to keep or create jobs • sell materials and equipment • fulfill political or social agenda • fit a particular instructor’s preferences

  5. 4 STAGES INVOLVED IN THE PROCESS • STAGE 1. CONCEPTUALIZING • STAGE 2. CONTEXTUALING • STAGE 3. OPERATIONALIZING • STAGE 4. INSTITUTIONALIZING

  6. S T A G E 1 CONCEPTUALIZING PHASE

  7. A systematic-model approach to curriculum design may be the key to avoiding these undesirable influences. Let’s take a look at “Systems” And “Models”

  8. What is a system?? A system is a collection of elements, interacting with each other to achieve a common goal. Crunkilton and Finch (1999)

  9. PRODUCTION SYSTEM • usually begin with a conception of the output, defining its specifications or identifying characteristics. • Example, ideal graduate

  10. SCHOOL PRODUCTION SYSTEM WAYS INVOLVED INCLUDES: • Profiling of the person in terms of knowledge he possess. • Skills he will be able to utilize • Attitudes and Values

  11. A production system consists of five elements. These are…?? • Input-raw materials • Process or Thru Put – Set of Operations or Stages • Output-Finished Product • Feedback-sounds, temperature • Environment • Process

  12. Once we have a clear conception of the output, the school can now procure the inputs or student recruits.

  13. TO MAKE PERFECT THAT WHICH IS IMPERFECT

  14. The thru-put in the model is the school curriculum. It is the instrument used by the school in ensuring that every teacher will do his part in maintaining quality in the school program.
