  1. Carbon Footprint Reduction By Josh Culora

  2. What are Carbon Emissions? • Carbon Emissions are produced through the carbon cycle and through human activities like the burning of fossil fuels. • Since the Industrial Revolution in the 1700’s, human activities, such as the burning of oil, coal and gas, and deforestation, have increased CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere • Six anthropogenic Greenhouse Gas Emissions are : * Carbon Dioxide Emissions * Methane and Biomethane * Nitrous oxide * Hydrofluorocarbons * Perfluorocarbons * Sulfur hexafluoride

  3. Ways to Reduce Carbon Footprints • Try buying a reusable water bottle or canteen for your water • Using cold water to launder things that don't need to be cleaned in hot or warm water. It takes a lot of energy to heat up water • Unplug appliances that you don't use very often. Most electronics have a standby mode. Cell phone chargers, laptops, televisions, stereos are a whole list of items that should be unplugged when not in use. Using a power strip for groups of electronic items is very efficient because you cant turn every thing on with one switch • Make sure all of your windows in your house close properly and that the attic in your home is well insulated. This can save a lot of money in the long run

  4. Reducing Carbon footprints at home • Reduce the use of some very high energy electrical appliances • When replacing appliances, try to buy appliances which use less power and have a good energy rating • Turn things off when not in use • Replace light bulbs with high energy with their with lower energy bulbs • Also using good insulation in walls and ceilings is very smart • You should also try and get rid of drafts from under doors and windows
