The scenic and cool environment of Kashmir captivated them so much that they laid the foundation of Srinagar's many formal, waterfront gardens, now collectively known as the Mughal Gardens.  • The present is still beautiful. Jammu and Kashmir is rich in flora and fauna. In Jammu, the flora ranges from the thorn bush type of the arid plain to the temperate and alpine flora of the higher altitudes.
