INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF ARGENTINA´s FOREIGN POLICY Argentina works actively around the world in several kinds of initiatives related to international cooperation, seeking to promote Food Security This behavior reflects on the numerous requests received from partner countries in order to develop the self-production program of fresh food: the “PROHUERTA PROGRAM”

  3. CONTRIBUTION OF ARGENTINA COOPERATION IN IMPROVING FOOD SECURITY Numerousrequests from countries for the development of Pro Huerta Program Haiti, Honduras, Guatemala y Mexico

  4. PRO HUERTA PROGRAM ARGENTINA-HAITI

PROHUERTA PROGRAM It’s an alimentary program whose main objective is to foster the self production of fresh food in an organic vegetable garden based system. • Precedents: Pro Huerta Argentina Program, developed by INTA and the Ministry of Social Development since 1990. • In Haiti, it was initiated in 2005 after the implementation of a pilot project in Gonaives where Argentina’s Cooperation participated with the collaboration of the IICA and of the Haitian Ministry of Agriculture

COOPERATION GOALS To improve the current food security situation of the vulnerable people by ensuring their access to food through the promotion of self-production • To diversify the alimentary regime in order to improve the diet’s quality of low income families and individuals by promoting the self-production of fresh food and chickens • To produce, to try and to facilitate the diffusion of those technologies appropriate for the self-production of fresh food

IN CONCLUSION • Due to the increase of technicians, promoters and participants in the Pro Huerta Program, Argentina has been looking for new triangular partners in order to strengthen the coordination and the tracking of the Program at a national level • It responds to country-specific requests, not to conditionality OPPORTUNITIES OFFERED BY TRIANGULAR COOPERATION An innovative mechanism that allows developed countries to fulfill their responsibilities and historical commitments, and enhance SSC, providing it of a major impact and a longer term Promotion of joint work between CSS and CSN and Reduction of institutionalization costs It is a full expression of the "Global Partnership for Sustainable Development", which covets the SDG 17
