Lamentation • Definition: The act or instance of lamenting (mourning out loud). • Synonyms:groan, howl, keen, lament, moan,  wail • Antonyms:exultation, rejoicing Click Here -EXAMPLE: EXTREME TREE HUGGERS LAMENTING THE DEATH OF TREES. Sentence: The lamentation of the tree huggers filled the forest.

  4. Auspicious • Definition: Attended by good fortune. • Synonyms:hopeful, bright, encouraging, fair • Antonyms:bleak, dark, depressing, desperate Sentence: Dorothy took the rainbow as an auspicious sign that she would be lucky. Click here for video  *

  5. Defiled • Definition:  to make unclean or impure. • Synonyms:befoul, defile, foul, poison, pollute • Antonyms:clarify, clean, cleanse, clear, distill Sentence: The waitress tripped and spilled the entire tray of food. She defiled the man’s dinner. Click here for video  *

Lithe • Definition: able to bend easily without breaking • Synonyms: flexible, limber, pliable • Antonyms: inflexible, rigid, stiff, unyielding Sentence: In order to make the U.S. Olympic team, Gymnasts must have a lithe body, or some of their training would be impossible.   8. Sated • Definition: having one's appetite completely satisfied. • Synonyms: replete,  satiate, satiated, stuffed • Antonyms: famished, hungry, starved, starving Sentence: The sated baby fell instantly asleep. Click here for video  *

  9. Compulsive • Definition: caused by or suggestive of an irresistible urge. • Synonyms: driven, impulsive, obsessive • Antonyms: unforced, voluntary, willful Sentence: The man was compulsive about cleanliness. Click here for video  *

  10. Dirge • Definition: a composition expressing one's grief over a loss (usually a song). • Synonyms: elegy, requiem, “taps” Sentence: They played a dirge at the memorial for the soldiers with bagpipes. Click here for video  *
