  2. Do what you love! Oprah’s Right… • What do you really want to do with your life..? It’s not the easiest question to answer. The best place to start is figuring out what you like. • Of course your interests will change, but it’s important to start investigating - NOW! • Building a career around your interests is not as easy as it sounds. That said, it’s helpful to make connections.

  3. Why Do Your Interests Matter? 1. You’re bored, so you don’t do your best work 2. You don’t do your best work, so you’re not proud of what you’ve done. Doing work you’re not interested in? 4. You’re not enthusiastic, so you’re bored 3. You’re not proud of what you’ve done, so you lose enthusiasm for work

  5. Connecting the Dots • Brainstorm 3 activities or tasks that you enjoy. • Consider your activities/tasks carefully. Break down the component parts that you enjoy. • Find relationships between the parts you have identified and possible career choices. • For example: I enjoy being on a rowing team. I enjoy the physical challenge, team work and the strategy involved to beat competitors. The parts I enjoy most are the team work and strategizing. Any future career choice would have to involve these elements.
