Are Children Targeted As A Market? Children are targeted as a market group because they know that children are the very foundation of their parents money. Get the children to want it and BOOM! Magically the child will have it within weeks.
Does It Appeal To Them? How? Why? These fairytales appeal to children because they aren’t long and they have a good message behind the stories. Children are interested in things that either relate to them personally or they just find amusing.
Are There Subliminal Messages? In each and every story there are messages behind all of them. In Rapunzel there are many messages, the first message is hidden in the beginning of the story where the “woman” wants some rampion. She tells her husband if she does not get any she will die. He steals some, and stealing is never good, and gives it to
Subliminal Messages Cont. his wife. The next hidden message is do not treat your children like a prize and lock them in a room where they are not allowed to see anyone. In Hansel and Gretel there are a couple hidden messages. The part in the story where it is talking about how they do not have enough food to support their children. Do not have kids if you cannot afford them. The children were also lost and were very smart about how they got home and how they escaped the witch!
Are They Dangerous?/ Should Parents Be Concerned? These messages aren’t per say dangerous but they are very influencing and parents should definitely be concerned. These messages are not only telling kids secretly do things that their parents would not like. In many Disney movies there are a lot of hidden messages and they spell things out like “sex” or tell kids to do “slutty or not socially accepted” things.
What Are The Positives Of Being Exposed To Ancient Fairytales? Ancient Fairy Tales are very different than modern day shows, they are very old fashioned and solve problems and dilemmas of the old days. They are very acceptable towards letting your children watch them.
What Are The Negatives Of Being Exposed to Ancient Fairytales? Ancient Fairy Tales also have their bad things too. They very much have bad messages but the bad messages come very far and few between the stories.
What Are The Positives Of Being Exposed To Modern Media? Modern Media relates to children really well because the shows demonstrate everything kids do these days.
What Are The Negatives Of Being Exposed To Modern Media? The negatives of Modern Media is that the shows these days show kids doing things that adults should be doing and that kids should not. It demonstrates bad behavior and illustrates adult themes.
How Might this Impact A Child’s Life Or Outlook On The World? These shows might change the way a child thinks because the shows on TV have very strong points of views. Shows are something you cant argue with and you cant talk about it with so you just have to sit there and watch the show and soak up the messages they present to you.
Ancient Vs. Modern Media Ancient Fairytales have deeper messages and you need to look harder to see them where as the Modern Media has more open messages and they are able to be seen very easily. Modern Media has messages that tell kids that doing certain things that are not good are okay. Ancient Fairytales have messages that are good and bad. These messages tell kids to not do things that are not good most of the time.
