  3. Question 2: • What are the top three languages spoken in New Zealand • English, Te Reo Maori and French • English, Te Reo Maori and Chinese • English Te Reo Maori and Spanish

  4. Question 3: What country is New Zealand’s largest trade partner? • Australia • England • China

  5. Answers: 1. What language is the most spoken in the world?  Answer - B - Chinese There is 1.2 billion speakers of Chinese languages. Spanish is placed second with 400 million speakers and in third place is English with 360 million speakers worldwide.

  6. Answers: 2. What are the top three languages spoken in NZ B. English, Te Reo Maori and Chinese In New Zealand English is the most spoken language followed by, Te Reo Maori and the Chinese.

  7. Answers: 3. What country is New Zealand’s largest trade partner? C . China New Zealand has a Free Trade Agreement with China and in 2016 with two-way trade reaching $23 billion in 2016

  8. Inquiry Task This week we are celebrating New Zealand Chinese Language week. It is a chance for us to think about the importance of New Zealand’s relationship with China and the importance of learning the Chinese languages.

  9. Today we are going to be doing an inquiry into the importance of the Chinese language to us all as New Zealander. You are going to create a minibook with your findings

Possible Questions: • What languages make-up the Chinese languages? • Where in the world are the Chinese languages spoken? • Why are the tones of the Chinese languages important? • Why is learning Chinese languages important to New Zealanders? • What are some key phrases you can use? Add some other questions that you want to know about Chinese language?
