  1. Update from WI • GEM assembly and test • HBD in PISA Itzhak Tserruya HBD meeting, August 29, 2006

  2. GEM supply, assembly and test (I) • We received last Thursday: • 5 standard + 10 Au plated GEMs • 23 frames • Mounting on frames and testing of foils proceeds at an average of 2 foils per day. • Gain test and gain mapping proceed in parallel. • Right now we have 75 GEMs in the database: • 2 are bad • 36 were used for HBD West • 37 (12 Au plated + 25 standard) should be available for HBD East

  3. GEM supply, assembly and test (II) • There are a total of 15 GEMs under test or to be tested. So we expect to have a maximum of 15 more GEMs in the database by the end of next week. • We have completed the production of 13 meshes. • A box containing a total of 24 electrodes will be shipped to BNL not later than next Sunday. • A second box shall follow about one week later.

  4. HBD in PISA We have started to implement the full HBD in PISA. So far the entire geometry and the following elements are in PISA: • All panels of the vessel (active, HV and walls), defined as a honeycomb, sandwiched between two G10 sheets. • Window made of 127  mylar, coated with 0.1 of Aluminum and G10 frame. • PCB made of 50 microns of mylar (instead of kapton) + 5  of copper.
