Main goals – 2011-2012 In priority order • High efficiency of the RPC data taking TC/RC • Assure an high quality of the data DPG/RC • Clear set of results (performance and studies) DPG • Build the RE4 upgrade system TC/Up • Enlarge the collaboration MB/IB • Manpower balance & budget consolidation MB/IB • but this is not enough for us and we have to do more and more to improve our project….(see next slide) 4th RPC General Meeting - Pigi Paolucci

News to underline • Detector is running smoothly • P5 and CAF crews are working very well • Instruction have been improved a lot – Anna Cimmino, experts and shifters • Shift reports at RC/DPG meeting OK • HV P correction – ready to be tested at TS (central DCS team) • # of DQM plots to be reduced in few weeks (Task forces with Anna, Anna, Alaa & Cesare) • 2011 results: many approved in June • Background studies: 2010 and 2011 comparison • PVT: noise and DQM stored in database – ready to be used (WBM too) • Simulation: improved with 2010 efficiency table • Construction DB: improvements thanks to Anton and Daniela • Upgrade: • HLP production has been defined • Gap production MoU is almost ready 4th RPC General Meeting - Pigi Paolucci

What we have to improve • Communication between TC-RC-DPG • Participating to the main meetings • Use the hyper-news more and more • Following the official path for any new request • Communication between MB and 80 colleagues • People should participate to the meeting (only 10-15 to the RPC RC/DPG meeting) • Improve the communication between present project and upgrade • Results in a public web page • Put all the approved and not approved results in a common web page • Improve DQM performance (reducing memory usage) 4th RPC General Meeting - Pigi Paolucci

News about RPC organization • RPC MB, coordinators and experts have access to a shared google documents used to prepare the weekly report to the XEB meeting: • Very good way to share info ! • June 14th:TC:Everything was perfectly stable before the gas kill on 31th May. Then after a power-cut in SG5 and a gas kill we had 5 trips in the barrel and 1 in the endcap.All have been recovered. One chamber temporarily in SG mode till next access.Trigger: Muon Trigger rate variations observed (~9%) in last weeks, the most probable reason is variation of the RPC chamber efficiency (by 2-3%) with the pressure variation (impacting the trigger efficiency in the endcaps by 3-4%, and thus the rate). Still not clear is the variation of the cluster size could impact the probability of promoting the low pt muons to high pt (impacting the rate on given threshold). Variation is not present with low PT cut (Mu0 and Mu7) and increase from Mu16 to Mu20RC: stable since the HV scan - no problem with the new set of WP and efficiency very stable in time (2-3% of variation due to the pressure) • P/T correction in PVSS has been discussed and defined and will be tested during the next TSDPG:DQM: experts are investigating in the offline DQM to speed-up it. Right now we are using 4MB and we already deleted 4.000 histograms. Work is on going. • MC: Comparison of number of RPC hits in MuonReco of 2011 data with summer2011 MC, show nice agreement in barrel and endcap. Some small discrepancy in overlap region under studyUpgrade: MB: 4th RPC General Meeting - Pigi Paolucci
