  1. Personal Development Goal Setting , career planning. LO: 1 AS: 1, 2 LO: 4, AS 1,2

  2. “Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us.We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?Actually, who are you not to be?You are a child of God.Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinkingso that other people won't feel insecure around you.We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.It is not just in some; it is in everyone. And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously giveother people permission to do the same.As we are liberated from our fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” • ( M. Wilson)

  3. SMART Goal Setting techniques • S = Be specific about how you identify your goal. If a goal is loosely defined , it becomes an invitation to procrastinate. • M = Ensure that your goal is measurable .Provide benchmarks for attainment. • A = Goals must be Attainable or agreed to. • R = Goals must be realistic/ Are they measurable within the allocated time and are their adequate resources to facilitate you achieving your goals. • T = You need a deadline to work to. ( timeline) • ( ezinearticles.com)

  4. Following the laws of attractionThe SAFE method of goal setting • S = See your goal – visualise yourself achieving it. • A = Accept that you can achieve it. • F = Feel the benefits of achieving your goal – see the results, feel the emotions. • E = Express your goals – talk about them, share them with others. • Often what holds you back is your fear of the changes you wish to make / fear of getting started…. • ( J. Loper – trainingpd.suite 101.com)

  5. Benefits to goal setting:

  6. Mistakes made in goal setting: • Goals are undefined. • Goals are given to you. • You make a goal public and receive criticism – share only with those you trust . Who will support you. • Trying to stop a harmful behaviour without replacing the benefits of that behaviour with something positive. • Failing to come to terms with the changes that come once you achieve your goal. • Setting a goal that is too easy or too challenging.
