  2. Overview • Summary • DODVS Frame • Optic Mounting Assembly • Optics and Lighting • BTM Frame • BTM Automation • Current Progress • Q&A Session

  3. Summary • Objective: produce a imaging system that is capable of capturing ink drops on the drum and on the paper at identical locations • Current System: clumsy to use, vibrates excessively, and the optical system fails to meet the desired image quality • There is no specific imaging system that compares the drum images to paper images

  4. Summary

  5. Summary • Oil is transferred from the maintenance roller to the drum before ink is transferred by the print head • Ink transfer from drum to paper as the paper feeds between the transfix roller and drum

  6. DODVS Frame

  7. DODVS Frame

  8. DODVS Frame

  9. DODVS Frame

  10. DODVS Frame

  11. DODVS Frame

  12. DODVS Final Frame Design • Uses 3x6 inch T-Slot vertical supports • ½ inch thick aluminum base and top plate • Added gussets increase natural frequency

  13. DODVS Frame

  14. Optic Mounting Assembly • Current system is heavy and cumbersome

  15. Optic Mounting • New system rotates camera to side with one easy step.

  16. Optic Mounting (con’t)

  17. Optics • Existing camera and optic components will be reused to reduce cost • A second camera and optics will be purchased • New optics system will have a magnification range of 3x to 21x

  18. Lighting • Metal Halide lighting is best option, but may be cost prohibitive • Splitting current light source may be adequate

  19. BTM Frame • Same 3x6 inch T-Slot material • Same ½ inch thick base and top plate • Reuses DODVS camera brackets • Features cover plates to hide messy electronics and wires.

  20. BTM Automation • XY Stage donated by Xerox, messy but it will work. • Manual cranks will be added for a manual override feature • EE’s are currently working on motor driver operation and integration.

  21. Current Progress • DODVS and BTM frame designs are entering detail design stage, final drawings will be complete in a few weeks • Final decisions on optics and lighting will be made this weekend, and ordered next week • Manufacturing of the frame assemblies begin in 4 weeks • On track for June 1st completion date

  22. Q&A Session • Questions?
