  4. Melodic Minor • Ascending: Raised 6th (submediant) and 7th (leading tone) • Descending: Same as natural minor • Ascending: W H W W W W H • Descending: W W H W W H W

Relative and Parallel • Every major key has a RELATIVE and PARALLEL minor key. • Relative Keys: Share the same key signature • The RELATIVE minor key beings on the 6th scale degree of the major scale and uses the MAJOR key signature. • Parallel Keys: Share the same tonic. • The PARALLEL minor key begins on the same tonic as the major scale and uses the MINOR key signature
