  3. i. STATISTICS • Key Statistical Indicators (KSI) have been adjusted; • Macroeconomic Compendium is in place; • Establishment of ECO Statistical Network has been approved.

  4. ECO statistical network ECO’s SIB Model

Implementation : Step 1 TRAINING within ECO Capacity Building: provided hands-on training on the IT-based use of the Geospatial Information System; provided an in-depth, computer-based training on the reviewed SNA. • ECO Workshopwas held on 19-21 April 2009 in Tehran; • Training course on SNA held on 26-29 May 2009 in Tehran;

  6. Suggested focus on Capacity Building for the mid-term? establishment of eco statistical training resource office; use of eco roster for training and consulting (roster is on eco web.)access to online training through joining to regional e-library on statistics of SIAP;joint training in new project affected areas on statistics.

  7. Step 2: establishment of ECO Statistical Database

Project Outline on establishing the Agricultural Statistical Database was proposed in December 2008; It was later discussed with FAO Mission to Tehran in May 2009; Project proposal on establishing the Investment Promotion Information Base was developed and discussed with UNIDO in March 2009. ongoing activities on statistics

  9. Way forward … • Involvement in the Regional Programme on Economic Statistics of UNESCAP; • Establishment of Transport Statistics potentially with EC;

  10. special focus: Metadata • Members are requested to speed up provision of relevant metadata. So far, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkey implemented the decisions of the 1st HLEGM on this matter.

  13. ii. Economic research Economic Research Themes have been approved and Coordinating Countries assigned. The initiative to convene the 1st Meeting of Senior Officials of Leading Economic Research Institutions/Centers/Departments of ECO was supported by the 19th RPC.

  14. Workshop on economic research is scheduled to be held in Ankara, Turkey during last week of November 2009 . The 1st Meeting of Senior Officials of Leading Economic Research Institutions/Centers/Departments of ECO was suggested for hosting by the Research Center for Asia and Pacific in H2-2009. work in progress

  16. 7th NFPM scheduled for Bishkek in 2009 – no formal response received; 2nd Meeting of Heads of NSOs scheduled for 29-30 June 2009 in Astana- has been re-scheduled. implementation of ECO calendar of events

  17. iii. Projects • Amendments to the Functional Methodology of ECO were endorsed by 19th RPC. • These have received CPR’s approval. • The 1st Meeting of the PMG is scheduled for end-October 2009.
