  1. Good Morning (9-3-13) • Attendance • Morning Greeting • Foreign Language Greeting (in your small groups) • Today’s Prep: Music • Lunch: If you pay for lunch, you need to start bringing exact change on the days you purchase lunch. • Tickets are on the counter, but people who pay must see me to pay their money.

  2. Schedule for 9-3-13 • Attendance • Homework collection: • Name, date, grade level, and block number should be on your paper at the top. • Collect them and put them in the middle of the table. • I will come by and collect them during journal. • Questions about observation assignment from last week and homework questions. • Inferring: Quick lecture and then small group work.

  3. Science Journal 9-3-13 • An ecosystem is made up of plants and animals that interact with their physical environment and with each other. Describe the ecosystem in one of the following environments: forest, pond, lake, or ocean.

  4. Questions • Are there any questions about the observation assignment we completed last week? • Any questions about the homework over the weekend?

  5. Inferring • Have out page 5 “Inferring.” • I will read over it with the class and be looking for active listeners to answer questions about the reading. • When we are finished, you will have time to work on inference examples in your groups.

  6. Homework (Due 9-4-13) • Complete the Inferring sheet • Numbers 3-9. • If you want to try number 10, it will be for extra credit. • Email me if you have any questions. • mapancotto@cps.edu

  7. Advisory • Girls Volleyball tryout permission slips. • Turn in your I Am Poems. I only have 2 student poems collected. • Whole-Group Greeting. We will make our circle on the perimeter of the room. • Practicing our General Greeting that we completed on day 1 and 2. • Preview our End of the day Advisory.

  8. Advisory Schedule • Tomorrow’s Assembly • Things to continuously work on: • Show 5 • Volume Levels • Greetings • Listening while others are speaking • Team Building Games

  9. End of the Day Advisory • Moving tables and chairs: • Done at a level 1 volume • Everyone in the group helps to lift and move table. Please do not drag table. • Listen to where each table goes so that you know where to put them every time we need to move them.

  10. Fact or Fiction? • On a sheet of paper, write down 3 things about yourself. • Two of the things should be facts, and one should be fiction. • A student volunteers to read their 3 things and then others raise their hands and guess which item is fiction. • There are two chances to guess before the answer is obvious. • Repeat with volunteers.

  11. Mr. Pancotto’s Fact or Fiction • I attended Lane Tech High School. • I will celebrate my 35th birthday this Friday, September 6. • I lost 110 lbs during my four years in college. -Which one is fiction?

  12. Team Game: Heads or Tails • Everybody stand in a circle. • Each player picks heads or tails by either placing their hand on their heads (heads) or placing hands on hips (tails). • Coin is flipped. If it’s heads, all those who chose tails must step out of the circle. • Then choose heads or tails again and repeat until only 1 player is left.

  13. Frogger • Let’s play the version you guys came up with on Friday. • I will choose people who are following directions and who have the desire to be the “shooter” and the “guesser.”
