  1. ** ALL Residents need to check out 24 hours after their last final exam or by 12p (noon) on THURSDAY, MAY 16th the latest** When do I have to move out? • The move out deadline does not apply to: • Summer housing residents • Residence Life summer employees. • Residents who have received permission to remain in the hall after closing. Halls CLOSE THURSDAY, MAY 16TH

Express Checkout - No Appointment Needed - • Pick up an Express Checkout form from any of the NJIT CAs or the UC main office, complete it and put it in the UC main office night drop box. • You will be responsible for arranging your own furniture, cleaning your share of the living space, making any repairs in accordance with the UC Move-Out Guide to avoid damage assessments. • Remember to include your mail key, room key, and fob in the checkout envelope, signing it, and putting it into the UC main office night drop box. *MAKE SURE TO KEEP YOUR ROOM AND MAIL KEY TOGETHER TO AVOID BEING CHARGED BY THE UC. DO NOT GROUP THEM TOGETHER WITH YOUR ROOMMATES* • Your unit will be checked once by NJIT CAs then again by a NJIT and UC professional staff member together after May 16. A final damage assessment will be done at this time.

  3. Checkout with your NJIT CA • You must sign up for a checkout time on the sign-up sheet on ANY of the NJIT CAs doors. (Sign-up for a time that will be after you are totally packed and have completed your part of cleaning the room or apartment.) • Do not expect the CA to come to your room; you should go to the CA’s room at your appointment time. • Appointments must be made at least 48 hours in advance. • You will be responsible for arranging your own furniture, cleaning your share of the living space and for turning in your room, mailbox key and fob. • The NJIT CA will examine the condition of your room against your original University Centre Form and note damages. (We suggest that all residents of the room be present at checkout times to discuss any questions of responsibility for damages and cleaning.) • Your unit will be checked once by NJIT CAs then again by a NJIT and UC professional staff member together after May 16. A final damage assessment will be done at this time.

Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! 24 H UR QUIET H URS Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! begin TUESDAY, MAY 7th @ 10:00 pm To ensure that everyone has the ability to study without interruption during the exam period the following 24-hour quiet policy will be in effect until May16 @ 12:00 pm. Quiet-hours mean that no noise should be heard outside of your room. Lounges, kitchens and other public spaces in the residence halls are subject to the quiet hours policy. Sanctions for Violating 24 Hour Quiet Hours 1st offense: Judicial meeting with the Residence Coordinator within 24 hours 2nd offense: Removal from housing for the remainder of the exam period

  5. N PARKING There will be no parking on Bleeker Streetexcept for residents moving out beginning Monday, May 13th at 10:45 pm and continuing through Thursday, May 16th at 12 noon. BLEEKER ST

  6. What about my Mail? • Residence Life does not forward any mail. All first-class mail will be returned to sender. Change your address now with friends, family, magazine companies, credit card companies, etc. If you would like to purchase an on-campus mailbox for the summer ($30.00) call (973.596.3093) or email reslife@njit.edu. • If you are not returning to campus, you should update your addresses on-line (Registrar) as well as with all companies who send you mail.

  7. NOW RENTING! Summer Mailboxes Who: Current NJIT resident students returning for fall 2013. What: Mailboxes will be available in Cypress (if you currently live in Cypress/ Redwood) and Laurel (if you currently live in Laurel/Oak) halls from May 16 - August 10, 2013. How: Rental forms are available in all residence hall offices, in the Residence Life Office and on the web www.njit.edu/reslife under closing information. Return forms by Thursday, May 8. Pick up your mailbox assignment on Monday, May 20 in the Cypress Office or Laurel Office (depends where you currently live). Cost: $30 (check or money order payable to NJIT) due with the form.   8. End of the year damage billing All damages to your room and to the NJIT floors (if applicable) will be charged to you. Charges will be added to your NJIT student account for billing using the following formula: Damage Billing Formula Total of the non-identifiable vandalism (e.g. broken water fountain, elevators, lounges/lobby items, graffiti or bulletin boards) + Your room costs for any repairs and/or clean-up costs = The total you will be charged. MAKE SURE YOU FILL OUT THE PRE-DAMAGE ASSESSMENT FORMS TO AVOID BEING BILLED FOR SOMETHING YOU DIDN’T DO!

  9. Damage Billing Notification $ $ $ You will receive notice by May 31, 2013 if you have been billed for any room or building common area damage. Your room will be thoroughly inspected after you leave. Most charges result from lack of cleaning your room and leaving items such as cleaning supplies and dishes! (Hint: Clean Your Room!) ALL damages will be based on the University Centre Move Out Guide 2013 which you will receive via email and it will be available in the UC main office. $ $

  10. Common Area Vandalism Vandalism that occurs in common areas (hallways, laundry rooms, bathrooms, lounges, kitchen, etc.) of the residence halls is divided among all residents of the building unless the responsible individual(s) have been identified or reported to residence life staff. • As a member of the residence hall community, you have the responsibility to: • Confront behaviors of vandalism you see happening. • Inform the individual(s) to stop what they are doing. • Report the incident to Resident Life staff and/or Public Safety immediately. Everyone pays a price for vandalism.

  11. Cleaning Supplies The following cleaning supplies are available by contacting any UC NJIT CA by giving your NJIT ID for 20 minutes: Brooms Dust pans Paper towels Vacuums Large trash bags Spray bottles with cleaning solutions Buckets Mops
