  3. What is EleUM? • Stands for Electronic Learning Environment University Maastricht • Online-platform for students, professors, and all other UM employees • Provides educational information about courses, schedules and examinations

  4. What is EleUM? (cont.) • Announcement from tutors or course coordinators • Study Material, e.g. literature, lecture slides, old exams etc. • Save and share documents

  5. Access EleUM • Go to http://www.eleum.unimaas.nl • Type in your password • Press Login

  9. More useful modules for you to customize EleUM You can drag and drop each element and customize your homepage as you like. This new module shows your next upcoming timetable activities

Not at the faculty (exceptions exist) • Most important regulations during exams: • Be on time (even when you are only 1 minute late you will be denied access) • No mobile phones • Only use of non-programmable calculators (when a calculator is allowed) • Read the course manual for more information • Your study does not work out the way you hoped • Your results are (a little) disappointing • Personal circumstances might cause a delay • You need advice concerning study related matters • Meetings are kept highly confidential • When to • register for courses • register for exams • register for your Bachelor/Master Thesis • hand in relevant documents • Missed deadline costs you 35 € • Gives an idea and brief overview of all upcoming courses and passing requirements • Contains all information needed with regard to educational and exam matters • Important to read it carefully

  11. Courses tab: shows all courses you are registered for in MyUM

  12. Course Registration • Log on to MyUm https://myum.unimaas.nl - Click on Courses • Click on Course Registration

  13. Course Registration (Cont.) • Select the program of study you want to book modules for. Please note: this is a required step since many students are registered for multiple programs. • Select the program type and academic period. • Click on Start

  14. Course Registration (Cont.) • Click on the Registration Cart tab. • A list of available modules for your study program appears. • To book a module, select a module by clicking on the square in front of it.

  15. Course Registration (Cont.) • Click on the Register button to book the selected module. • Click on Register Selected. • A “Confirmation Registration” page will appear. Review your selection and, if you want still register the selected module, click the Register button. Otherwise click on the Cancel button. • A more detailed version can be found on http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/sbe/introductiondays

  16. Attention • You are only registered for courses in period 1! • You have to register yourself for the following periods. • Missed deadlines will cost you 35 €

Availability for evening education • After you finished your course registration, you will also be able to submit your (un)availability for evening education starting from 18.00hrs via My UM portal • Note that students are expected to be available for education during the day between 08.00hrs – 18.00hrs.

Availability for evening education • Please be aware that if you do not complete this form, there is a chance that you will get scheduled for evening education. • If you do not want to have evening classes (starting at 18.00) make the column with the header 18.00 grey: Needs to be done for every period – confirm & save it!

  20. For each course you are a member of an „Organization“ • Online Platform of your Tutorial Group • Discussion Board • Community Email • Looks very similar to course-level

My UM Portal • Retrieve course results • Register your courses • Missed deadlines will cost you 35 € • Deadlines under MyFaculties > SBE • Register for re-sits • Check your admission status • Email Web Access • Access it via EleUM or http://webmail.maastrichtuniversity.nl • Contact students via E-Mail search engine • Professors/Tutors use UM Mail to communicate with you personally • Your E-Mail login is the same as your EleUM login

  23. Library Training (Masters) • The inner-city University Library offers a hands-on library introduction on how to search for books, online journal articles and using the Ebsco databases. This information session will be really helpful for writing your Master Thesis. Time and date of the trainings will be announced as soon as possible. • what: hands-on library introduction for master students SBE on how to search for books and online journal articles (including the use of Ebsco databases)  • why: this information session will be really helpful for finding academic literature to write your Master Thesis • when: Wednesday 5 September 11.00 hrs, 13.30 hrs and 16.00 hrs. • where: room 1.213 (first floor Inner City Library) • Please register via • http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/web/Library/courses.htm(SBE / Library introduction SBE masters)

  24. Information Desk • At the Information Desk you can get any information about the organization of educational activities. If necessary you will be referred to the qualified authorities or persons. • Transcripts • Inspection of answer keys and reactions or comments on tests • Reporting problems with your course registration/Timetable The Information Desk is located in the main lobby of the School building. The opening hours are Monday-Friday from 10.00 till 16.00 hrs and for IRO related issues between 10.00 and 11.30. 

  25. Library & ICT Service Desk Location • This is the location of the Inner City Library. (You will also pass by during the city tour) • The ICTS provides services in the area of information and communication technology. • The ICT Service desk is also located here.

  26. Final Information for Today • It will be a very long day • With several breaks ;-) BUT • It will be also a very fun day! • ENJOY!
