  6. Vocabulary • Phrases about what you like to do… • Que te gusta hacer?- What do you like to do? • A mi me gusta patinar.- I like to skate. • A Juan y Pablo les gusta nadar?- Do Juan and Pablo like to swim? • Si, porque les gustan deportes. – Yes, because they like sports.

Vocabulary • Phrases about what you want to do… • Que quieres hacer hoy?- What do you want to do today? • Ni idea.- No idea. • Quieres ir al cine conmigo? – Do you want to go to the movies with me? • Esta bien.- All right. • No, gracias. No quiero ir al cine hoy. – No thanks. I don’t want to go to the movies today.

  8. Grammar • Gustar with Infinitives… • An infinitive tells the meaning of the verb without naming any subject or tense. There are AR, ER and IR verbs. • Just like nouns, infinitives can be used after a verb like gustar to say what you and others like to do. Always use gusta NOT gustan with verbs. • Me gusta la musica. – I like music. • Me gusta cantar. – I like to sing.

  9. Grammar • Pronouns after prepositions… • Pronouns can stand for the same noun yet still have different forms, depending on how they’re being used in the sentence. (Yo soy Javier. Me gusta dibujar.) • Prepositions in Spanish are A(to), de (of, from), con (with), en (in, on, at). • Pronouns after prepositions are: mi, ti, usted, el, ella, nosotros, vosotros, ustedes, ellos, ellas. • A ti te gusta dibujar? • A mi me gusta dibujar. • A ella le gusta dibujar.

  10. Grammar • Present tense of QUERER with infinitives… • Quiero, quieres, quiere, queremos, queréis, quieren. • Use a form of querer with an infinitive of another verb to say that someone wants to do something. • Quiero comer fruta. I want to eat fruit. • Maria quiere nadar.- Maria wants to swim.
