  1. SleepPositions

  2. We all know that body language in our waking lives is an important way to gauge how other people are feeling. But did you know that your sleep positions can also give away clues as to who you really are?According to recent studies 6 popular sleeping positions were seen to be linked to particular personality traits. And these particular traits were actually quite different from what was expected

  3. What your sleeping position says about you ... Find it out…..

  4. The 6 main positions studied were:• Foetus• Log• Yearner• Soldier• Freefall• Starfish

  5. Foetus Those who curl up in the foetus position are described as tough on the outside but sensitive at heart. They may be shy when they first meet somebody, but soon relax. This is the most common sleeping position, adopted by 41% of the 1,000 people who took part in the survey. More than twice as many women as men tend to adopt this position.

  6. Health related info: This is one of the healthiest positions, according to the experts. This position allows air to pass freely through the body’s passages. It also deters stomach reflux, where digestive acid travels back from the stomach causing a burning pain – a serious and common problem for those who sleep on their back. It is important to remember not to put weight on your arms, as this will cause pins and needles; instead try crossing them in a brace positionThis position may be particularly helpful if you have osteoarthritis in the spine, spinal stenosis--a narrowing in the spine--or hip pains..

  7. Log (15%) Lying on your side with both arms down by your side. These sleepers are easy going, social people who like being part of the in-crowd, and who are trusting of strangers. However, they may be gullible.Because of their desire to be around people and are very emotional – this can be a handicap.

  8. Health related info: This position maintains a neutral spine, allowing it to lengthen. This position is good, because breathing is not compromised and all of the body functions work well.

  9. The yearner (13%) People who sleep on their side with both arms out in front are said to have an open nature, but can be suspicious, cynical. They are slow to make up their minds, but once they have taken a decision, they are unlikely ever to change it.Soif you have chosen to share a life with this kind of sleeper – you should know that if the decision is a fact, don’t try to stop them. You might end as an enemy.

  10. Health related info: You may wish to position yourself at a quarter turn so that you are not squashing your shoulders together.: This is an excellent position to sleep in, and is strongly recommended by experts. Lying on either side is good for the structures of the back discs, muscles and ligaments as it helps them to adopt an optimal position. Having your arms in front of you will prevent them going to sleep

  11. Soldier (8%) Lying on your back with both arms pinned to your sides. People who sleep in this position are generally quiet and reserved. They don’t like a fuss, but set themselves and others high standards. This person do not let just someone near – you must go for their high standards or better - be someone that also have this way of thinking. Interesting position and character choice.

  12. Health related info: If you want a quality night's sleep – this is not the best position choice. This position can cause respiratory issues. The Soldier position promotes snoring as your tongue has a tendency to fall to the back of your mouth.

  13. Freefall (7%) Lying on your front with your hands around the pillow, and your head turned to one side. Often these people are gregarious and brash. But they can be nervy and thin-skinned underneath. If your partner is a freefall sleeper, be careful with criticism – they don’t really take it well. This is important if you want to have peace in your home or your relationship. Also these people don’t really enjoy extreme situations.

  14. Health related info: Try to avoid this position. This position could be causing a lot of health problems. Resting with the neck at a 90° angle can cause stiffness and “cricks”. If you sleep with your hands up at face level, you can experience pins and needles, often the result of compression in the bundle of nerves in the neck. A softer bed may also put an asymmetrical strain on your spine. However, this position may be helpful if you have degenerative disease or a herniated disk in the central portion of your spine.

  15. Starfish(5%) Lying on your back with both arms up around the pillow. If you need to be heard or you are a talker, this sleeper can be a good partner for you. These sleepers make good friends because they are always ready to listen to others, and they will offer their help when needed. Like some need to be the centre of attention, these ones are the quiet socials. They like to communicate, but need to be the passive side.

  16. Health related info: This position can be limited to having a large bed or sleeping alone. However, this seems to be the healthiest way to sleep on your back if you if this is your natural choice, even though this position also leads to snoring. Sleeping in separate beds can be a better choice for those who find it hard to sleep with someone else. Or even separate rooms, because of the snoring. For those who have cultural taboo about sleeping apart, might need to consider a different point of view - sleep is more important than societal norms.
