The Intrinsic Radiation Sensitivity: Identification, Mechanisms and Epidemiology (ISIMEP) network, which is sponsored by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research in Germany, is glad to announce its first workshop on ionizing radiation epidemiology dedicated to their cooperating partners and related researchers. The workshop is organized into two sessions held within three days. In the first session on Monday, six overview lectures on radiation will be given by invited experts in the scientific fields summarizing the essence of a selected aspect of radiation research and bringing together physics, biology, medicine and epidemiology. The second session on Tuesday and Wednesday are organized into 14 oral presentations from recent research projects including topics on DNA damage, epigenetic alterations, individual radiosensitivity, radiation tables, plutonium production, nuclear power plants, domestic radon, pregnancy effects and childhood cancer. In order to stimulate intense discussions, the total attendance is limited to 70 persons.
