  2. Mission Statement: To provide an efficient and cost effective solid waste management program which protects the environment and conserves natural resources

  3. Tonnage and Diversion • No. of licensed landfills currently in Operation: 2 • Estimated Total Waste generated/day: 3,000 tons • 953,000 tons/year • Waste received daily at Dane Co. Landfill Site 2: 500 tons • About 130,000 tons/year • Waste going to privately owned landfills: • About 253,000 tons/year • No. of Material Recycling facilities (MRFs): 3 • Estimated diversion: 60% of total waste stream or • 570,000 tons recovered per year

Dane County Landfill Site No. 2 Quick facts 76 Acre Footprint Average Depth-70 feet Design Volume 7.2 Million Cubic Yards 33 gas wells Receive 500 tons per day Leachate is sent to MMSD Landfill Gas to Energy project 2 Cat 3516 Engine Generator Sets Rated At 800 kWh For a total of 1600 kWh Additional gen-sets online in 2004
